I will give Kenney credit for one thing he said when the Alberta provincial tax got suspended. He warned the gas stations not to price gouge or the province would get involved. So far it appears the warnings worked because the omnibus price seems to be at 157.9 everywhere (in Calgary anyway). Maybe the BC government needs to do the same thing, openly tell the retailers to knock it off with the massive discrepancies in prices or they'll come down on them like a hammer. There's no reason for anyone outside of Vancouver, with it's ridiculous extra 17 cents per litre local tax, to be paying city prices. Not even for a community on the tail end of a 500 km drive for a tanker truck from the nearest refinery. It's price-gouging, it's bullshit, and we all know it.

At least 90% of this inflation, on all items, over the last year can be put down to pure greed. And nothing will be done about it simply because the ones profiting the most from the fucking gouging are also the ones who contribute the most to the political parties in order to make sure the laws will always be written in their favour to make sure they get away with it. That a left-wing NDP government in BC refuses to do anything about it just shows how little can be done to prevent this sort of quasi-criminality. Just another merry feature of the last forty-odd years of wages not keeping pace with prices, and all because the wealthy pearl-clutchers who get the vapours at the thought of the governments ever actually regulating the blessed & sainted "free" market have ensured it will always be this way.

   

Wait a minute - there's no BS gas tax cut here. That's pretty foolish you'e supposed to be figuring out how to use LESS oil & gas all by yourself. Only an incredibly stupid climate denying Conservative ass would be helping you NOT reduce.
In BC we're getting a $110 rebate check that everybody know has nothing to do with gas tax and everything to do with ICBC overcharging. But of course the usual snivellers are whining that the Premiere said use for gas (as any politician would), as if they've got the nuts not to cash it.
DO anything about gas prices? Do anything? You still under the 1970s impression the goernemtn can tell business what to do?
Have you ever heard of any gov't in the last 50 years EVER convicting a gas station of price fixing? Yeah like that person you know who heard of someone who heard from someone else about the lady who got a ticket for driving too slow....
no this shit's ALL on Big Oil. Oil prices have been falling and we're not seeing prices drop so much as a penny.

The price spiked to almost $120/barrel in the first few days after the Russian invasion, but it's been hovering around $90/barrel for the past couple weeks, yet gas prices are still the same price as they've been for the past five weeks.

Edit: I'm talking about WCS oil, the basis for most oil/gas consumed in Canada, and not WTI or Brent oil prices, which are much higher.

Filled up the Jeep there a couple years ago and it cost me $96.00, the fill up before in Prince George was under $50. As was the next one in Rocky Mtn House

   

It's part of it. Oil futures are traded globally, so even though the oil supply in NA is fine, instability caused by war elsewhere, cause the price to jump everywhere.
