No punishment or 'manual attitude adjustment' is too extreme for those who would intentionally injure children. In my opinion the individuals involved are beyond redemption and are incapapable of learning from their mistakes. Their reassignment from living to non living is therefore a non issue and a definite improvement in the human gene pool.

Anyone who would deliberately try to harm a child in such a way has no place in society. Whether young or old, I think it is too late to attempt to 'fix' a person like that.
Psychotics like those who derive joy from harming innocent children without remorse or feeling are a scourage on society and should be pemanently removed.
