Several Week of hospitalization...
and they are not saying it will also require months to heal.
I had 3rd degree burns on my ankles, I can imagine what this poor little guy is gonna have to go through. And the parents will have to have a watch on his 24/7 to check his bandages. With burns that severe, there is a high risk of infection. That is just making me sick to my stomach. 
I hope they find the culprits....

It did say he was with his grandmother.
I can't believe that someone would actually think that this would be funny. They obviously knew that a child would be the victim.
Worst part - they'll likely be young offenders, get a slap on the wrist and do it again.

Who ever put the chemicals on the slide wasn't doing it as a joke, pure malice was their motivation. Poor little guy, can you image how much pain the little one is in. Hang the SOB who did it, if they ever catch him/her or they.

Make them go through what they put that kid through.
Make them go down an acid-splashed slide.
Make them go thorugh the immediate trauma, the months of rehab.
Make them suffer the lifelong disfiguring scars.

Several years ago some bright star put something sharp on a playground slide. I don't remember what it was, but it cut a kid up pretty badly.
I was just thinking the same thing ...blades , glass , cigarette butts , needles ...the history of play grounds are bleak at best , but over the last few decades its quite amazing how well maintained they are and are becoming . Awareness has brought us a long way , unfortunately sometimes dog attacks happen but for the most part its become better . Its heartbreaking what happened to this toddler .

They're the same type of people who commit school shootings: people who hate everyone else in the world and would stop at nothing to hurt others, even strangers.
They are sick people and need to be isolated in psychiatric care.
