Well, it's probably not the best thing to post on a website but it's pretty harmless. After all it's just a joke.

The real joke of that clip was the very small number of attendants.
XD

What a dickhead. There's no reason to include spouses in shit like this.

What is this world coming to. I agree with Mr Burns here. Thumbs up! :D

You know you're a liberal when:
- Recycling a trademarked name is 'doing a favour'
- Recycling an ancient joke is 'funny'

ridenrain @ Wed Jul 09, 2008 5:54 pm

To be clear I'm not offended by a joke about Harper and his wife being murdered by Canadian forces troops. These sort of jokes are told all over the place. I do find it unbelieveable that anyone would be so stupid to print it in an official newsletter though.

I need to remind you of the rightious indignation thread where a drunk Conservative made a joke about gays 7 years ago. Thicker skin, eh?

And what does that say about the Cons who are offended by it?

They're a bunch of whiners. I'm a Libertarian, remember...:)

Wait a second...is someone comparing a homophobic slur to a rather insignificant joke that's been tossed around in numerous political incarnations for years? Not only do some need thicker skin, but some need work on their comparison skills.

ridenrain @ Wed Jul 09, 2008 7:26 pm

what was that thick skin comment?
..tasteless joke about the murder of the prime minister and his wife published and distributed in a party newspaper compared to a politically incorrect 16 year old drunken joke video?

Being a "centralist" I thought you'd see that the 2 are equally stupid, except one was done for public broadcast and the other obviously wasn't.

EyeBrock @ Wed Jul 09, 2008 7:26 pm

I agree Mustang, a homophobic slur hardly compares to joking about murdering two people.

It was a dumb joke. I don't know why people are so worked up over it. I wouldn't care if it was about Jake Layton, Dion or Jean Charest - it's not that big of a deal and hardly worth the effort of getting upset over.

As a said earlier, some need to be introduced to politics

Firstly, there's no such thing as a "centralist" - but thanks for showing how little you know about politics. Secondly, the intent is the difference. Are you honestly suggesting that St. Catherines Liberals are calling for Harper's murder? Again, stick to aping blogs and stay away from politics if little recycled jokes upset you so...

ridenrain @ Wed Jul 09, 2008 7:40 pm

Intent is directly the issue.

The Liberal joke was printed in a newsletter for public distribution. It was a party newsletter fer christ sakes.

The CPC joke was someone being stupid to a closed and drunk audience. It was obviously never intended for public release.

Why do you refuse to accept that it's the publication that is stupid and not the joke itself.
