That's why we hired him. Being a top level money guy, POTUS won't intimidate him. Carney has seen tougher.

Now all he has to do is come up with a plan to boost our internal economy enough to buy South Korean Nuclear subs, and Cheetomoussolini will blow a seal.

South Korea doesn't have any nuclear powered subs.

Yup, you are right. I don't know why I read it as nuclear boats. Wishful thinking I guess.

I work in a hotel in Las Vegas. I always ask where a guest is from whenever I have any dealings with them. Last night I was speaking with a lady from Japan. That's when it hit me that this was the first foreigner that I had came in contact with for several weeks now. I have dealt with two Canadian couples since Feb. One couple said that they had booked the trip several months in advance, and could not get their money refunded. The other couple had a kid playing in a sports tournament. Both couples said that they had to sneak out of town as they did not want their friends and neighbors knowing that they were traveling to the states.

I am going to get the double whammy living in Vegas. The whole world is pissed and not coming, and Vegas corporate greed is pissing Americans off as well. Everyone is tired of being nickel dimed to death. Resort fees, parking fees, expensive food, expensive drinks, shitty gambling, shitty comps, etc., etc. I can't believe that anyone still comes here. I have the feeling that its going to be looking like COVID round 2 around these parts pretty soon.

I'll admit, I've never had a desire to go to Las Vegas. I'm sure there is plenty to do besides gambling, but none of it appealed to me.

I recall a short documentary on the waste generated by one hotel. Everything that wasn't eaten, left on plates by diners; and what gets made but never sold and thrown out after shift. It was staggering. And most of it got tossed in a dump truck and shipped to a pig farmer out of town, and the pigs ate it. To me, that was the epitome of what Vegas stands for.

No offence intended Rick. It just seemed to me that was a fitting look into what Vegas was meant to be.

But you are right. What you see is just the beginning. You've seen the pictures of the ports of Los Angeles and Portland being empty. Stories of ships leaving China with no cargo. (where do they go?) Now stories of Seacans being in short supply, and no one can get space in Secure Warehouses. Stories of Snowbirds returning from down south after selling their properties, causing a dive in real estate prices in Florida and Arizona are regular on the news around here.

You've got the triple whammy of people not having disposable income, US Customs throwing visitors in jail for no reason, and a Federal Government that is openly hostile to visitors.

That doesn't make for a good tourism vibe in a town designed for tourism.

Will US science survive Trump 2.0?

There is a lot of waste in Vegas, but one thing the city does well there is water conservation.

That's true!

I just like the idea that Vegas scraps were making pigs fat. There is a message on several levels there.
