Thanos Thanos:
The world needs a human population culling of at least 65-70% anyway. Whether this happens through birth control, food supply collapse, moderate-sized asteroid/comet, or nuclear war makes no difference. No one on any side can say anymore that what's coming for all of us isn't completely deserved by all of us.
Not some poor African sucker.

I'd say 80% would be a better reduction. That would leave 1.5 to 1.6 billion. That would about what it was around 1900. However, the industrial societies would need to be reduced too, as they are the biggest consumers of resources and despoilers of the planet.

We could go full ALF and go 100%; solve all those ideoligical problems we have

Eating cats would indeed solve many of our ideological problems.

Bushmeat, poaching, ivory trade, habitat destruction, and trophy hunts are going to kill off every land animal larger that a rat in sub-Saharan Africa within a hundred years. At a certain stage ignorance and poor education as excuses no longer apply and the locals who participate in this are just as responsible as the evil outsiders providing the money.

South African game wardens have no qualms about shooting poachers. Too bad more countries didn't take this approach.

Elimination of the criminals themselves, and not just the crime, is not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself.

ShepherdsDog @ Tue Jan 24, 2017 5:00 pm

We had some bears at the landfill, sows.... likely with cubs, that were poached and found to be missing parts and organs.

Only reasons for killing is food or it's a danger. Not so needle dicks can get wood according to 'alternative' medicine.

Is that an alternative fact?

Do you think that you are worthy to be one of the survivors, Dr. Strangelove?

Because of Kellyanne Saeed al-Sahhaf's use of "alternative facts", George Orwell's novel '1984' is now #1 on Amazon's bestseller list.

So, like vaccinations and Ebola, someone has to intervene so that their problems over there don't become our problems over here.

Ask Germany if they would rather have supported birth control in Africa in the 90's, or economic migrants now.

Sorry, but the 'fight them over there instead of here' argument only works against terrorism.

/sarcasm

I said it before and I'll say it again. Trump marks the reawakening of global anti-Americanism.

It will become a mark of pride to resist the selfishness of Trump's America. Americans will hide their flags again while going abroad. Europeans will rant at them. Canadians will base their identity off the rejection of American interests. It's going to be petty and sad.

Flags will burn and embassies will be bombed. Anti-internationalist ideas like cutting off support for abortion in the third world won't win America friends.

Trump is going to build new enemies, and we'll see them in 10-15 years. A great American tradition.

I'm beginning to wonder if Trump getting elected is going to bring back all the joys the West had in the 1980s...an arms race, unchecked greed by megacorporations, international terrorism, trade wars/protectionism, etc.

That's what made America great at the time, so why wouldn't he?
