stokes stokes:
They cherish their freedom so much that they have given most of it up for sake of security!

Never a truer word was spoke 8) Those who choose to trade freedom for security will have neither - I believe Jefferson or someone of that ilk said that, it holds true now more than ever.

so when a American wants to be patriotic its cheesy?

Sometimes, yes, the way they do it is cheesy.

I see those coins advertised on CBC all the time, and those are just as cheesy. 'Silver recovered from vaults under ground zero' - it's a poorly minted coin plated with silver and gold. Who says the silver came from ground zero? The people making the coin?

"The bow contains 7.5 tonnes of steel taken from Ground Zero."

. . .so? Throw it over fries and cover it with gravy.

"We're sending a message that we're standing strong. This ship, as it cuts through the water, is going to send a ripple. That ripple will say, 'We cherish our freedom'."

Freedom ripples

Oh come on?? Do I really have to explain what is so painfully obvious - the loss of freedom is about as discrete as a shovel smack to the head

Not necessarily, but steel from the WTC built into a warship?

Not only cheesy, but kinda grotesque.
Wow a rabid anti-American thinking American sentimentality is cheesy. Go figure. Je me souviens
