Why Do They Get Out
Assault of a child should warrant lock up till you go to trial , and no double time for it after .
What happens if you’re completely innocent though? Should you still be remanded without bail for being accused of a crime you didn’t commit?
Dayseed Dayseed:
...rewording S. 515 to a Justice may order release instead of shall.
Ahh, the old "may" and "shall"...
Protip: Young soldiers should remember the differences. It might come up on a PC sometime.

You know, excluding my work which often dealt with the more “troubled souls “and have witness the truly horrible sides of our society, in sixty years I’ve never been arrested. I’ve never had my home robbed. I’ve never been assaulted. My various cars have never been stolen or broken into. None of my family or friends has been robbed, murdered, arrested, or knows anyone who has.
Why are there so many unlucky with personal hard luck people on this particular forum? As a Psychologist, this is fascinating. I first question the truth of the statements and then try to understand if the forum environment draws these people together and what the general socioeconomic group is most represented here and why.
Well I haven't been arrested, my house hasn't been robbed, nor have I had any friends or family murdered. As it goes for legal issues, I've only been jumped.
I am not drawn here because other people here have brushes with the law, I'm here simply for the debate and to view other people's various opinions on various subjects.
If there is any level of % in members who have had these various brushes of legal issues, I would say it is merely by chance, as everybody's life is different from another.
The fact that you haven't had any similar brushes with the law.... I could only say to count yourself lucky.... so far in life. Who knows what tomorrow will bring..... esspecially since you didn't knock on wood

Once he wrested the knife away, he lost the right of 'escalating' self-defense.
He got 7 years for basically gutting a guy, that's not a very harsh sentence.
Excessive force. That's the law. Not who started it.
(He's have been better off if he'd pulled his own knife and gutted the guy while he still had his. That would be ruled self-defense.
Screw that, I'm not a police officer... if someone pulls a knife or gun on me and actually attempts to kill me, they're going to die if I get their weapon. Even if their weapon is taken from them, they still have intent to kill you, which still can be done by hand if one was so inclined.... and if they were so inclined to kill me before with the weapon, what makes people think they wouldn't still try and kill me now that I have their weapon in my hand and their life is now at greater risk?
It should have still been considered self defense.
Even when I talked to the police after they caught that guy in my situation, I told then straight to their face that they better keep them well away from me, because if they cross me again, it'll be their life over mine. They just nodded their heads and said they'd be in the same position if they were me.
They didn't arrest me for uttering death threats or anything, as I was stating a fact.
The only reason why I never took things to the next level during the fight with the 5 asswads, was because my girlfriend at the time and two other so-called friends were there and if I went down, what was going to happen to them? I fought enough to keep their drunk asses at bay and kept them talking as we headed further to where we were expecting the cops to intersect.... and it worked for the most part. Their co-ordination was so poor and the punches they did land felt like my brother punching me back when we were kids.... but continually saying "I'm gonna kill you" while his buddies are all around trying to trip me to the ground to kick the shit out of me..... I take that very seriously.
Although the main guy who started all this crap did get his teeth shoved through his lip from the one kick I made while on the ground.... then they all backed away again.
All I got was a bit of a bruse on my left ear..... psh.
The cops did their jobs well, along with the person on the phone with my ex relaying our location.
Where the shit failed was with the legal process afterwards, completely ignoring facts of the situation and phone calls of flat out confessions by those idiots to me on the phone.
Even when I was talking to the guy handling my case when it was told to me that the case is pretty well lost, I once again told him the same thing, that they better put some restaining order on them, because if they try and finish what they tried to start, it'll be their life over mine.
So long as you feel your life is at risk, you have a justified right to defend yourself.
Whether this guy got the knife or not, he was still out numbered, and injured.... I would still consider my life at risk, just as I suspect he would have.
