I've read this topic and have noticed that it's cool to pay high prices, are you crazy? I hope no, if the system is worse than another, another takes it's place. And noone wil stop it.

You think the Canadian system is worse than the American?

Have you seen the word "Canada" there?

then i don't take your meaning.

He didn't mention Canada in his post.

Strangely enough, I'm beginning to understand PostFactum.

Well I got that, thank's Ray. But what was the meaning of his original post, and what systems was he referring to?

Brenda @ Thu Jan 06, 2011 1:34 pm

Any system.

If that's so Important for you;-). Ukrainian system is better than Moldova's.:-)

andyt @ Thu Jan 06, 2011 1:37 pm

Alright, then he's also comparing the US vs Canada, and presumably saying the US is the better system because of lower prices. At least that follows from the context in which he made his post. Otherwise it's just a non-sequitur.

And that is relevant to the discussion of US vs Canadian prices how?

"The Canadian and American systems are terminally borked.". Is his point.

Are you saying that consumer prices are lower in Europe than Canada? Even with their VAT?

No, they are higher, due to the even more social programs and benefits.

The reason that prices are so much higher in Canada vs USA is the extra
social burden that everyone pays for everything.

It's worse in Europe.

However, the only real shock I have seen here is the price of food,
its unreal how much everything costs now.

Other stuff is cheaper here, especially gas. and smokes, but that is direct taxation.

I have seen inflation through the roof in Slovakia, as prices are being
adjusted to European levels.

PF only needs to wait a few years, it will come to bite him in the ass as well,
and he won't be smiling.

That's not true.;-)
You can't give the evidences, so you're telling it to yourself, your mind. If you'll become crazy all the time thinking about it,
Just don't think... Boo! don't afraid, imagine the sea around you, and count till 10. You see, everything is ok)

What is this other system that will take the place of the current US and Canadian ones, and that is so much better? On the face of it he seems to be saying that because Canadians pay higher prices than Americans, their system will replace ours. Hasn't so far. If that's not the meaning, where is the price/wage ratio so much better than here, and what's that system like to live under?"

As people have pointed out, economies of scale also have something to do with why prices are higher here. But I'd rather pay a bit more and have our social benefits than live in the US.
