Cities don't have borders or customs to control what or who goes in and out of the city. Do you really think it matters if guns are banned in DC when you can just go one town over and buy all the guns you want?
Also I thought the NRA had all the municipal gun laws overturned?

Yet the rest of Illinois, which is a quasi-red state with a GOP governor doesn't have any of the same anti-gun policies in any of it's other sizeable municipalities (including the large suburbs surrounding Chicago) doesn't have any of the problems with gun violence the way Chicago has. Gee, what could be the one single over-arching factor that's making life in Chicago so dangerous and third-world-like?

Well not one factor but; Largest city in an 800 mile radius, high unemployment, long history of poverty , gang issues, issues of segregation, drug issues and easy access to guns.
