"There's a chance you're going to die anywhere you go. I'd rather die doing something noble like serving my country," he said.

The Forces wants to augment its full-time personnel by 5,000 and its reserves by 3,000, bringing the totals to 67,000 and 33,000 respectively.

i have noticed the glut of military recruitment advertisements and it doesn't surprise me.

they are getting just what they wanted,THE PATRIOTIC CANON FODDER mentality that the AMERIKANS thrive on...the idea that you are doing something NOBLE for your country by killing

and when they cannot fill the ranks with the WILLING,then expect a draft to be initiated because we are at war now,and the politicians mean business...the business of selling protection to AMERIKANS destabilizing world peace for personal profit.

that sure sounds NOBLE to me and millions of others disgusted by our politicians willingness to sell our souls for their own comforts.

I guess the concept of someone standing up for their beliefs, and willing to back them up with their life is a forgien concept to you. Just like how to spell 'American'.

The waving the bloody shirt techniques.
Canadians are generally Patriotic, especially males. When we see the soldiers sacrficing their lives in our name, we want to help. They have tricked people into believing that an occupational war is in our nations intrest.

I don't mind seeing recruitment go up, or our millitary grow, but not to the ends of the NEO-Cons currently running the agenda. Sadly we are going to see a continued increase in Millitarization of our Society, unless people can wake up to the realities of who is really threatening us.

Its definately not Afgan Muslims hiding in the mountains of their homeland. The biggest threats to our soveriegnt are within, and they are the ones making the agenda.

I have been watching for recruiting events or displays in my town, (Saint John, NB), I plan to protest with signs, t-shirts, or whatever. It really gives me the creeps when I hear dubya's rhetoric being replayed in Canada. "Fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here" "We don't cut and run" "The terrorists, the terrorists, the terrorists....." It gives me the creeps even worse when I see people falling for this bullcrap.

Damn right I'm mad at the way this country is being sucked into the vortex of corporate facism! Prepare yourself for the eventual Canadian 911 to make us more 'patriotic' and fearful.

dr caleb,if you really are a doktor you probably got your accountant to do an assement on how much money you can make off the disabled coming back from the war...all those visits and the pills you can push.

must be flush with enthusiasim for the canon fodder to get back in little pieces.

and your ignorance of literature shows you know nothing of AMERIKANS...or the germanic use of the letter K to denote ?

you really are a pathetic FOLLOWER.

Dr Caleb @ Mon Mar 20, 2006 1:48 pm

Ahhh! The ad hominem attack! Second last refuge of the out debated. Shall we have the swearing next, and get it out of the way?

AND WE ARE SMARTER THAN YOU...SO THERE...

Dr Caleb @ Mon Mar 20, 2006 3:05 pm

Ahhh, so. I initiate the conversation since you claim to have served, and the subjects could have been 'Why did you serve? What were your reasons?' but instead, I get 'your investments from killing children must be doing well..'

And I'm the troll? Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa!

*pffffftttt* hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaa!

Then some drivel about Rambo and hockey helmets, and the debate went where exactally? 1 reply, and you're already with the ad hominem attacks. Every site has a troll. If you don't see the Troll here, then it's you.

Please! Stop! You're making my side hurt. Come back when you want a conversation.

Very well put! Today's realism is not real.

Look Killer are these belief you mention worthy of standing for, as you left them un specified who is to know
Belief in an abstract concepts is far from intelligent,.

Is you response anything other than a blind troll?
One might expect the position you hold here on Vive would prepare you to offer an intelligent response, judge by that response, one would be quite wrong

Hey Hanns
In Canada we cannot draft, you twit. In 1943/44, Constription was enacted after a vote. The People of Canada vote to.
As for displays Mich, why not go up to CFB Gagetown and see what we do. We don't go around killing people.
People of Canada are the most uniformed people I know. It will take a 911, or a IRA to kick them in the ass.
Get out of this country and see the real world. It's not all safe.

Dr Caleb @ Tue Mar 21, 2006 9:32 am

I wouldn't expect you to understand Dio, but if Harald has been in 4RCE, he has taken an oath to defend his country with his life. The article states that people are taking that same oath for their own reasons, yet he referres to them as 'patriotic cannon fodder'. Nice cheap shot there. I'm simply trying to find out his reasons for taking that oath, and why he'd disparage people doing the same thing.

Speaking of cheap shots, you and I have had some good discussions, but starting them off with "you simple minded troll!" isn't the best way to start one :)
