What's ROC? I'm sorry but I don't know what that is. Who is this meant to apply to? Everyone besides Quebec, or everyone who doesn't share your narrow-minded idea of what Canada is and what Quebec should become?

Too late. Quebec has been caught in privelaged patronage and program largess since confederation. The saddest reality of adscam is that it has worked for 125 years and will likely just morph into a different form of bribery. If that is the only way we can hold confederation together or if that is the best strategy that a string of governments can reach - then maybe we need to consider the experiment a failure.

The majority of Quebecers don't want to leave Canada so I also don't understand ROC because there are many in Quebec who want this country kept toghether.

Could you define what “the American nightmare’ is? Free trade has brought you a 55 billion US surplus that accounts for most of your trade and a good portion of your GDP, but that is somehow a bad thing?

138 years of ongoing First Nations/Acadian/Québécois cultural genocide. Even now when federalism has been exposed for the sham it is you chose to make excuses rather than face reality. Gullibilty, ignorance and apathy.

Rest Of Canada.

Acronyms are a curse (just my opinion).

The ROC. Angus is right. What is ROC ? The rest of what ?
Don't Canadians find it to be a derogatory appellation ? Maybe it's just me because in French, a 'restant' is a 'leftover'. And I'm not even being sarcastic, honest.
---
« Il y a une belle, une terrible rationalité dans la décision d'être libre. » - Gérard Bergeron
I grant Paul Martin the genius he has to focus Canadians on the Gomery Inquiry, because it is a single issue and those do not generally sway the public over the long haul. He has successfully turned public attention away from the more serious financial boondogles, ie the gun registry and the billions spent on unaudited research grants annually; the megabuck grants given to Bombardier as well as his own family's windfalls.
Direct Quote from the CBC re his shipping Company, CSL.
"Before August 2003, Martin and his wife Sheila owned all of CSL company's voting shares. The sons – Paul William, James and David – owned the common stock. Although CSL is privately held and therefore not required to publicly disclose its financial records, CanWest News reported in early 2003 that CSL controlled assets worth upwards of $693 million and had annual revenues of $283 million
In August 2003, when Martin was running for leadership of the Liberal party, he transferred his interest in CSL to his three sons to try to head off any allegations of conflict of interest
In January 2004, Ottawa said CSL had received $161 million in government contracts, grants and contributions since 1993. That figure was more than 1,000 times higher than the figure Don Boudria, then government House leader, gave in 2002 when Canadian Alliance MP James Rajotte asked about the government's dealings with the company."
So, the mega-millionaire Prime Minister sheds tears for Canada while he and his piggy family keep sucking up taxpayer dollars.
And some people still think he stands up for Canada.
And some people still think the world is flat.

There are way too many pessimistic losers on here.

Samuel, I thought you had left Vive permanently.

Genocide refers to violence.

When it comes to the Quebecois, we've been subsidizing that culture for a long, long time....to equate controlling the French (which we don't anymore) to murdering a group of people is in very bad taste Samuel.

The Acadians and first nations are an entirely different case.

There is no sham--nobody said Canada was perfect. A G-8 country with little violence and limited poverty used to be something to be proud of.

I've basically concluded that multiculturalism is a failure because it gives all minorities the right to demand equal treatment--at the expense of the majority.

Perturbed, misquoting me is very disgraceful. Although some groups could claim outright genocide, I said "cultural genocide" which is exactly what's been happening in this country for petty political reasons.

I did, but have since decided to be in (especially) your face as much as possible. Staunch federalists such as yourself will stop at nothing to distort the image of Quebecers.

Pessimistic losers? These people are REALISTS! Paul SWEATSHIP Martin is every bit the piggy crook that we say he is! Time to wake up and smell the corruption.

I'm still probably going to vote Liberal to keep Harper out--the NDO isn't it. Then we'll have new leaders of the Conservatives and Liberals, given another minority Liberal government.
