When the person you're referring to is female, it's "Latina." "Latino" is meant for men or for mixed groups. French and Spanish both change these kinds of pronouns depending on the gender of the person being referred to (and at least in French, for the objects themselves, as all nouns in French are either 'masculine' or 'feminine'. Maybe it's the same in Spanish, but I don't know.)

From what I've seen, a lot of Latinos hate "Latinx" partly because they see it as an imposition by white leftists and/or because it really doesn't fit with the rest of the Spanish language. Some people have suggested "Latine" as an alternative for genderfluid or agender people, which would be pronounced as "Lah-teen".
