Apocalypse!
And another lens flare movie with no story.

Not a fan of JJ Abram's
Star Trek, eh?
Meh. Effects were awesome, but if you didn't already know who everyone was, there was next to nothing regarding character development. What did they add to 'Kirk' for example - the death of his father and driving a beautiful car off a cliff?
Rodenberrys' vision was to portray a future that had already dealt with many of the problems society faces now. Star Trek is chock full of drug addiction, race, monetary, political and medical themes, right up to 'Nemesis'.
These new movies are somewhat 'hollow' in that respect.

Might as well watch a 'Die Hard' rerun.
I liked the first Star Trek reboot, but didn't care for the last one very much. Frankly, Star Trek has become too much like Star Wars IMHO.
Star Wars was always about action and adventure, while Star Trek always had that intellectual edge to it, where they talked about geopolitics, social issues and everything else and just happened to take place in space. That was why I liked both of them relatively equally, just for different reasons.

You know, I never understood that whole NCC-1701-A,B,C,D,E thing given that the name Enterprise has been on a boatload of ships without any other modifier to the name. So why not continue that tradition?
1701 was the hull number and the letter designation was the model number.
1701 - Original Series Enterprise
1701 A - Replaces OS Enterprise lost in Star Trek III
1701 B - Excelsior class vessel
1701 C - Ambassador class vessel lost defending a Klingon colony from the Romulans
1701 D - Next Generation Enterprise (lost in Star Trek: Generations film)
1701 E - 2nd Next Gen Enterprise
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starship_EnterprisePersonally, my favourite was the alternate future version Admiral Riker commanded with a cloaking device and a third nacelle.

Personally I was hoping that the next Trek series, should one ever appear, would be set in the 27th century so we could get a better look at the Enterprise-J that made a small appearance in the last season of ST: Enterprise. Look at them sexy warp-15 capable nacelles.

Fun fact for ST dweebs: the 1701-A wasn't a new ship they built just for Kirk. It was actually the USS Yorktown NCC-1717 that was scheduled for decommissioning. They used it instead as a test bed for the last upgrading of the Constitution Class and re-named it as the Enterprise-A. It was the one and only ship of the 170X-A group.

1701 - Original Series Enterprise
Also a fun fact for Trek:TOS dweebs - there were 4 versions of NCC-1701.
The Pilot episode "The Cage"/"The Menagerie", the second pilot episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before", the regular series version and the Spock-with-a-beard universe version - "ISS Enterprise".
First Pilot episode (mostly unaired, but re-constructed for the 2006-2008's 'Remastered' version of "The Cage")
Note the nacelle 'exhaust' ports.

Now, the Second Pilot:

The Bridge was also taller on the second pilot version, and there is actually a different font for the lettering:

Compared to the Series Version:

The Deflector dish is also larger on the Second Pilot version. There are also slightly different decals, and port/starboard light - see the ISS Enterprise below.
In the 'Remastered' series, the ship is all CGI, but they kept the different configurations the same as the original.

In the remastered series, they also left off the 'Sword and Planet' logo of the Terran Empire.

And that's why Star Trek always beats Star Wars.

Suicide Squad looks more interesting than Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice.

I'd never heard of this Ip Man series, but # 3 seems to be generating decent ratings and there looks to be great interest from somebody.
Looks dumb to me, but according to the numbers I'm wrong.

They were pretty good films. The first two were about his early life, trying to survive during the Japanese occupation of China, and him developing his own style of fighting. It's mostly historical retelling of his life.
He's the master who taught Bruce Lee. They are on Netflix. I'll bet that the third it all fiction though.
