Captain Marvel was simply a bad trailer, especially when I compare it to the Wonder Woman trailer from last year because it barely revealed anything about the character's motivations or personality. Gal Gadot may not be the best actress, but at least she had some charisma and personality. Brie Larson shows the emotional range of a desk lamp and looks like she's pouting while she waits for the check to clear. The only thing the trailer revealed about Carol Danvers is that she gets her jollies assaulting senior citizens (and yes, I know it's a Skrull, but I think it would be hilarious if it really was an old lady and Carol would be, "oh, sh-")

I think I will pass and wait for Shazam if I want see a real Captain Marvel movie.

Oh, and just for the record. Carol Danvers has only been Captain Marvel since 2012 and spent a majority of her publication life as Ms. Marvel, and was perhaps better liked by the fans. Why? Carol hit rock bottom when Rogue (of X-Men fame) robbed her of her powers and memories, and struggled with alcoholism in the late 1990s and had worked hard to rebuild her life and reputation. Alas, the film is probably going to gloss over that. As for the full list of characters who held the mantle of Captain Marvel, here it is:

I - Mar-Vell
II - Monica Rambeau (now called "Spectrum," and her mother is a character in the film.)
III - Genis-Vell
IV- Phyla-Vell
V - Mar-Vell (Actually a Skrull imposter called Khn'nr, who was active between Civil War and Secret Invasion)
VI - Nor-Varr (During Dark Reign)
VII - Carol Danvers

   

Plus she's not woke enough. Too white. She should be an overweight, one-armed, transgendered, lesbian, black muslim woman in a wheelchair.

Now were talking woke. Captain Marvel. Shazzzaaaaammm!

   

I quite liked both Rey and Rose from the new Star Wars (the movies plots are another thing altogether) - they're way better than that whiner Kylo Ren.

^ Exactly. I see a lot of people bitching about women in shit on some forums I frequent. Like the new battlefield game advertisements having a woman fighting in WW2. But I didn't see anyone bitching about wonder woman getting a movie. The furthest I saw was that she wasn't physically built for the role. That was about it.

   

Not a gamer, but I did hear a little bit about that one.

Isn't battlefield a game that takes place during the second world war. The complaint I heard was they're going to center the game around a woman with a cybernetic arm or something. Didn't Battlefield used to be a WWII reality based game. Now they're going rewrite WWII to be a battlefield where a one armed bionic women was a thing. The complaint isn't that there's a woman in the game. The complaint is they're rewriting the reality of WWII to get 'woke for the wahmen."

Battlefield fans liked the real battlefield aspect of the game and now they think they're going to lose it. That's the way I heard it.

As to Captain Marvel here's an actual, for real, comic book fan explaining the problem he has with Captain Marvel. It isn't because she's 'wahmen."

   

A lot of fans need to sit down with mom and dad, and have that real vs not real chit chat.

   

Self-defined experts who don't understand why fans don't want their fandoms deconstructed into things they don't recognize; hijacking their culture to push an SJW political agenda regardless of quality, popularity or even financial success need to do some research.

   

Tell me about it. Getting butthurt over characters in a game or movie characters is pretty funny.

My time, when my 'fandom' was created...is still there. Got the sets I want in my private collection. I read them at my will and leisure.

The new stuff, is for new fans. That will be between the current generation and the content creators.

In my opinion, old fans trying to force replication of the past, will just create a monotonous environment...sure enough to kill the industry faster than any new content (good or bad) will.

   

Not bothering to buy the game or see the movie is even funnier.

Yeah, so what? Now we're going to call people 'racist' and 'sexist' because they don't care to play a game with the SJW version of WW2? Or see a movie that takes a well-known character and 'reimagines' it into something else?

How about just create a new game or a new character and piss off exactly no one?
