The Da Vinci Code - The Movie
The Tomb Raider movie is certainly at the top of that list, Shep... definately the pinacle of historical/adventure cinema.

I just saw the preview for the movie yesterday. Looks good, I just hope it does the book justice. I am not one of those conspiracy guys but It does seem funny to me that the church has taken such a strong stand on this book in view of the author saying that it is fiction! What is the church worried about?

Some want a disclaimer at the beginning stating this film is fiction.
It won't do any good. There will still be no end of geniuses who will cite the movie/book as a valid souce to refute the Bible & etc. I fully expect IceOwl to expound on the conspiracies of the Knights Templar & etc. while steadfastly refusing to cite his source as he is wont to do.
All too often I've seen absolute idiots say things like...
"An F-14 can't launch a Phoenix while flying inverted? Bullshit! I know they can because I saw them do that in
Top Gun!"
"We need gun control because I saw these kids shoot at a bunch of people in a movie and..."
And the idiots cite acknowledged fiction as fact.
Sure Bart... I know you have Angels & Demons in the back of your head when you're going after atheists...

Never saw it.
However, I'm quick to cite "Dogma" (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120655/ ) when I have such arguments.

Well, based on your moon landing thread, you actually kinda are one of those guys.
Bart, that picture is absolutely hilarious. Thanks for the laugh!

I do think Jesus Himself would approve of "Buddy Christ" as He had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good party.
Water into wine!!! C'mon the guy was a serious Party Animal!!
Some of the tea granny evangelicals should read their Books a little closer (NO, IT WAS NOT UNFERMENTED GRAPE JUICE)

Water into wine? Given what I remember about the magical multiplying fish & bread (even you can't believe this was a factual event) giving wine to hot & thirsty people in the desert heat (loads children) is not a very smart thing to do. Where did he get the carbon molecules in H2O? Now had it been sand into water it would have made more sense. Good story.....but fiction.

Too many people witnessed His miracles and He was also tried before the Sanhedrin and the Pharissees for performing a healing miracle on the Sabbath. In the context of the time you would not claim being before the Sanhedrin had you not actually been there as they kept detailed records of their goings-on for legal reasons.
The significance of the Bible is that it is the compilation of many personal accounts of God (Old Testament) and corroborating accounts of Jesus (New Testament).
By modern legal standards the testimony of the Gospels would be sufficient evidence to convict Jesus of being the Messiah.
Not even the Muslims refute the miracles of Jesus, what they refute is the Divinity that was agreed He possessed by the Nicean Council.

How many people have "witnessed" miracles from obvious frauds. Sorry mate, it just isn't true. Given all the peoples of the world, all the races & civilization and your god just happens to sent a single human to the middle-east (where the religion starts coincedently enough) ignoring all the asians, natives of N.S.C. America, Australia, every little island around the world....... Just doesn't fly. Those people witnessing the miracles is easily explained by all sorts of self-delusionial explanations and people wanting to believe. Loads of people today do the same thing. Faith healing ring a bell? They catch these "miracles" all on tape but in the light of actual science & medical experts they fall flat.

Everything you just said about Jesus/Christianity can be read the same way in which you read what has been said about Jesus/Christianity. Who is right? We shall all see someday.

Water in that time was of poor quality. Alcohol would have killed off some of the germs.
