For me the answer is easy, Star Trek The Next Generation will always hold that spot. After re-watching all the treks, I think I like DS9 more now, and new shows liek Battlestar Galactica I really liked. But TNG definatly had the greatest impact on me while I was growing up. I watched every new episode each week. I think TNG more than any of the other star treks also taught the most life morals and lessons.

What show most affected you while growing up?

The A team, MASH, knight rider, Airwolf, Fall Guy, Remington steele. What really impacted me were the sitcoms like Different strokes, ALF, Gimme a break, Whos the boss way too many list. These are the ones that gave me a sense of humour :D

Sesamestreet. For that was all I was allowed to watch.

Ah sesame street that was awesome. I learned the alphabets and learnt to speak basic English from watching that even before I joined pre school. And mind you I don't come from an English speaking household. That for me there defines the value of proper edutaintment and to this day I rather watch a good documentry than some cheesy serial.

Thuderbirds I could just never get over the puppet strings and the puppets themselves looked a bit creepy to me 8O

The original BSG, as hokey as it seems today. A-Team, All in the Family, Space 1999 were all favourites.

Space 1999 was great! DD, the string thing was fun. Thunderbirds and all the other Gerry Anderson stuff just had really cool machines.

Captain Scarlet was another good one.

I got the DVD's for my lad years ago. It's funny to see the TBird puppets smoke and drink like bastards. Just like Mad Men!

A BBC show that CBC used to carry on saturday morning was the Tomorrow People. I used to really like that...mind you I was a Doctor Who fan from a young age too.

LOOL yeah the good old days before everybody became so sensitive and PC. Thats one this I do remember. Wasn't there a charchter who smoked a stogie aswell, or am I confusing it with Arnold. The wooden acting is common between the two

Sting ray didn't do it for me. I'd watch if it nothing else was on.

Shep, I loved the Tommorrow People. After that I started reading good sci-fi like John Wyndam and Asimov.

Funny how sci-fi doesn't do it for me now. I'm a history guy instead.

Space 1999 had hot chicks in tight tops too.......what about UFO? The chicks were nearly naked in that but it came on after 2100 hrs so I didn't see much of it.

A couple of other Euro and US shows that were ancient but were on the BBC or ITV.

White Horses (French)

Flashing Blade ( French with a great theme tune)

Casey Jones (US, another great sing-along theme)

and Branded (US, about a wrongfully disgraced US Army officer).

M.A.S.H. Kind of grew up with that show, Thundercats (with a poptart and fuzzy navle) started off my morning in Collage, when I was real little speed racer I rem. crying when I came home and it was not on T.V. my mom telling me that it was no longer being shown on T.V., Married With Childern (cristina applegate [drool] ), COSMOS (sp) Caral Sagan's science show, Dr. Who, Mounty Python. Ok that's enough for the moment. Thanks Trev for taking me down memory lane. Now to go get a beer and cry about no more good programing on TV

Impact as in: emotional; affected my views on the world; entertainment; etc. Impact can have a wide variety of meanings. I think the one that most affected my views of the world was All In The Family. Seeing Carroll O'Connor's brilliant portrayal of a bigot incapable of change really opened my eyes to why people (not just white people, George Jefferson was just as big a bigot) have a hard time adapting to the way the world and society in general change through the generations.
