I'm kind of skeptic of things actually being done on a Conservative minority government. The last time this happened resulted in Joe Clark getting his dog papers in 6 months and the Liberals, despite their apparent popularity even with all the corruption and scandals (and I scratch my head to that) will always be there, creeping, crawling back.....like the boogyman.

I think a lot of voters will be pissed if they go back to the polls for another election. Not only is it a waste of time for so many people, its a waste of 250 million

It all depends on what causes the election.....

I hope we'll have at least a year....hopefully two years before the next election

 After a good 4-5 years of learning how the government works in this country I still don't get it. So Conservative won the most seats but they might not be in control?

They didn't win more than half the seats.....so if the other parties vote together against the conservatives, they can defeat them.....

Heres an example"
10 cons
8 libs
4 ndp

if the libs and ndp vote together it is 12 votes against 10........those number are just an example

The liberals are going to have to rebuild. Infact, if cons are really lucky, we could still get a maj

When the libs are opposition, many will notl ike it and resign. By elections galore will follow, and cons could be voted in then too. Not only that, but they need to elect a liberal speaker. If they get the ind behind them, and try to get a few bloc but not the whole party, then you will be surprised.

Yeah, same old thing i've heard forever. Just doesn't make sense to me, we vote someone in they should be in power. Then live and learn when they mess up, then we vote someone else in [flag]

Thats how it works....but we didn't vote anyone into power.....

if over 50% of Canadians vote for a party, than they are voted into power....and then it works as you've suggested......

without 50% of Canadians supporting a party they shouldn't have power.....

I mean almost 70% of Canadians voted against the Cons....does it make sense that they would be in power?

QBC @ Mon Jan 23, 2006 9:59 pm

Basically the people of Canada have said they're not sure about Harper. They wanted the Liberals out, but not willing to give the Cons and free reign. In BC, it looks like the Conservatives are going to actually loose six seats from the last election.

16- Conservative
11- NDP
9- Liberal
As things sit right now.

The election did go the way I thought it was going to after the Conservatives went ahead in the polls. We'll see how things go now.

PostManPat @ Mon Jan 23, 2006 10:02 pm

So if Canada wanted the Liberals out and didn't trust Conservatives, what happened to NDP?

You call this a victory? I call it a test of character.

QBC @ Mon Jan 23, 2006 10:04 pm

Well, it looks like the NDP is going to gain seats in the house. Seems to me that many people voted NDP instead of Conservative in ousting the Liberals.
