I think (hope) he is making fun of the stupid Liberal voters in Ontario.

Mika @ Tue Dec 06, 2005 7:43 pm

I wonder what the concervatives would do should they come into power?

It's incredible, eh? If these separatists would just accept the principle of partition they would have their independence in a heartbeat.

What part of Quebec do you want partitioned?

Hard to say. Much would depend on the circumstances in which the separatists were to win a referendum. I would imagine that whole chunks of territory could end up on the table.

My first choice would be to avoid partitioning Quebec by preventing the partition of Canada, however.

Understood.

And I would agree that whatever 'expert opinion' may say, when two parties negotiate, that they start from scratch, and everything is on the table.

But when I look at demographics or election results, it seems Quebec is pretty solidly pro-PQ French. Aside from Westmount, there's very little English Canadian presence. ---At least, it isn't looking much like the Rorschach blots of say, the Isrealis and Palestinians.

In fact, a credible argument could be made for adding the northern quarter of New Brunswick.

And there's always the Prince Rupert's Land...

I was just wondering if you or anyone else had any particular plans.

Once again, I will rephrase what I said.

Ontario overwhelmingly sends Liberal MP's to Ottawa...Which just supports my statement that Liberal support in Ontario is not as hard as many would believe.

Am I reading this correctly?

Well, no. I think he means "although overwhelmingly" and "not as firm".

Technically, you are reading correctly, and he's not making any sense.

Be defeated quickly enough that we could have two elections in the same year. 8)

Mighty proud of yerself, fellas?
I'm spending enough time here so I might kick in some money without you're little bet.
Just let me get through Christmas first.

Then your answer is no? No faith in the chances of the CPC? Since the election isn't until late january you would be through Xmas by a good bit.

Like any good Canadian, my vote and political opinion is one thing, but MY money is definitely another.

Is this a question of my confidence in the CPC or my frugality?

I think you are right. Who would prop up a Conservative minority Govn't? Be realistic when answering as well. The only natural team for them would be CPC and Liberals. Both the NDP and Bloc are far too left leaning. This election is a waste of money that could be put to good use across our Country.

Your confidence in the CPC. If you were going to donate anyway and/or had confidence in a CPC victory then the amount is quite reasonable. Since you think harper will be riding in on a silver horse slashing taxes to nothing while simultaneously increasing spending to healthcare, education, families with kids, and of course quadrupling our military all the while fighting crime (single-handedly of course) and if there is time bringing peace to the middle east, I'm sure you can scrape togeather 20 bucks which would go to Trev anyway. Ask the rest of the CPC pimps on the forum to chip in.

It is a much too great waste of money, to have a vote now is just asking for another vote in 3-6 months.

However, the rural, southwestern, and midwestern parts are considerably Conservative and NDP...

I thought I'd point out that before I moved to London I lived in one of those Midwestern parts (Huron-Bruce) and I can assure you that the Conservative candidate is going to lose. The Liberal MP in that riding, Paul Steckle, routinely gets over 50% of the vote and unless I'm mistaken the Conservative candidate is usually lucky to get 30%, usually in the Mid-20's. Ironically enough, for some reasons the Conservatives keep thinking that Huron-Bruce is a winnable seat.

Jaime the laxative of conversation.

hwacker @ Thu Dec 08, 2005 5:03 pm

In Southwestern Ontario, the Liberals aren't losing support, but the effect is nevertheless approximated by the Conservatives there gained support. On the question of who they'd vote in an election held today, voters in the region said (change from 2004 election result in brackets):

Liberal: 41 per cent (+1)
Conservative: 43 per cent (+9)
NDP: 11 per cent (-10)
Green: 5 (+/-0)
