Through reading some of the threads, often have noticed many argumentative comments mostly about the Political Parties and/or Leaders themselves.

But it seems as though there are seldom any mention of the various party platforms from anyone. So what are your reasons for voting for any political party? Whether it be Liberal, Conservative, NDP, Bloc Quebecois or Green.

Anyways, assuming that it would be neat to hear your reasons for voting for any political party in particular with no bashing if possible  . So I will go 1st.

CPC because:

Economy
Immigration
Tax reduction
Not as much wasteful Govt spending
Contributions to Provinces (please no insults from anyone in the ROC)
Better Federalist party to take seats away from the Bloc

Reverend Blair @ Fri Oct 03, 2008 3:27 pm

The NDP because:

The environment and the way it pertains to the economy.
Jobs...good jobs...for regular people.
Honesty and accountability in government.
Proportional representation.
Support (real support) for the arts.

No more grants to dead beats that take our tax dollars for digging a shallow grave and drinking their own blood from a vial placed in their anus.

Or someone painting 3 stripes on a canvass and calling it art.

Any corruption or pork barrelling.

I think in this age of information if anyone try's anything they will be caught and plasterd all over the net and tv.

mtbr @ Fri Oct 03, 2008 3:33 pm

CPC
economic stability
tax reductions
less government
cuts to the arts  (hopefully the CBC)

DerbyX @ Fri Oct 03, 2008 3:36 pm

Liberal:

The best choice economically.
The best choice socially.
Commitment to the military without commitment to wars of aggression.
Commitment to the environment without sacrificing jobs.
Commitment to healthcare without sacrificing availability.
Commitment to Canada without sacrificing one region for another.

I haven't decided, but I like Derby's list.

but:

1) I'd rather be homosexual than vote Liberal
2) I'll vote for whoever ensures the CPC does not get a majority. Minority, or opposition, OK.

Ditto. I don't have a hate on for the Liberals but I think they lost my vote.

Thanos @ Fri Oct 03, 2008 4:15 pm

CPC:

Economy
Tax-cuts for families and small business jerks (like me!:D)
Not go along with this global warming nonsense that would destroy our economy
Tough on criminals instead of coddling them like babies
Support law enforcement instead of undermining them like Liberals do
Rebuild out relationship with the US that the Chretien/Martin Liberals nearly destroyed
Rebuild our military and are willing to deploy combat troops if needed
Other good reasons too numerous to be mentioned

dino_bobba_renno @ Fri Oct 03, 2008 4:17 pm

CPC:

1) I would like to keep myself gainfully employed and I think the CPC is the least likely of all the parties to propose any sweeping changes to the oilsands.

2) Economy (I think the Liberals are also capable of performing on this but I'm not a fan of the Green Shift)

3) Crime package

4) I'm more likely to recieve a tax cut from them than anyother party

5) I have to agree with MTBR, they are the least likely to play favorates with Ontario.

hurley_108 @ Fri Oct 03, 2008 4:17 pm

Green.

I was quite impressed with May in the debate.
My riding's a shoo-in for the Conservatives so I'm not going to be splitting.
I personally know the candidate.
I already give the NDP a monthly donation, so this way the Greens get my subsidy.
To increase the number of parties I've ever voted for to three.

If my riding were more hotly contested, I might be swayed by the real issues.

ridenrain @ Fri Oct 03, 2008 5:21 pm

Economy, because without a strong and vibrant economy, we can't do anything else. The government isn't our friend, parents or our employer so a smaller, leaner, more effective govenment brings taxes down and services closer to the taxpayers. We expecially need a strong economy if the US economy is going into the toilet, and a strong leader that will do the right thing, even if it's hard. For example, the income trust issue made lots of enemies for Harper but most now agree that it was a nessesary thing to do.

Crime is a huge issue and the lead on that is organized crime because their the ones behind the drugs and violence. No parties are talking about that aspect of the problem, instead they toying with de-criminalization that just makes the problem worst. Our judges are on the wrong track and I'm sick of them stepping to define policy because our politicians are to wimpy to do that.

.. and if Harper gets a majority so he can bring about the biblical end of days, he said lord satan would give me back my hair.
:D

CPC becuase:

- they are against green shit
- they have already move our tax free day backward by 10 days
- they reduced the GST
- they reduced my income tax
- they increased funding to the arts
- the have been the most succesful monority government in the history of canada
- they are my only hope for destroying the gun registry
- $100 per month for childcare is better than the big bureaucracy that the liberals were going to make
- I want an elected senate. Liberal senators that haven't left their Florida home in 18 months deserve to have their asses fired.
- crime bill - its finally tougher!
- I trust them to manage the economy better than any other party
- the aren't going to play the ontario against Alberta, for once we'll be a country without alienating government in Ottawa.
- they fixed the softwood lumber dispute when Chretien was too arrogant to pick up the phone.
- they increased funding to our soldiers, instead of gouging Billions like Martin did.
- they are working towards establishing standards for our medical system, so we can trend their performance better.
