The Gomery inquiry cleared Martin of complicity. Get over it.

Did not. Gomery gave him the benefit of the doubt.
You're not too bright are you.

What part of this statement by Gomery are you having problems comprehending?

Justice John Gomery Justice John Gomery:
Paul Martin, the former minister of finance during most of the sponsorship programme is entitled, like other ministers from the Quebec caucus, to be exonerated from any blame for carelessness or misconduct, as the Department of Finance's role was not oversight, but setting the "fiscal framework".

He cleared Martin.
Get over it.

get a Nik, Liberal appeaser.

I thought the money for the Sponsorship Scandal was coming out of the PMO which was not under the Finance Minister. Also, keep in mind, Chretien and Martin weren't really best of friends. When you look at the billions of dollars being promised this election, you can see how difficult it would be to notice 200 Million coming out of an office you have no control over, and most likely, no invation to.

There are so many other issues to fry Martin for. The sponsorship thing is speculatory, and I'm surprised defimation of character law suits haven't been filed. Well, except for Chretien. lol

All finances come under the Finance Minister, what do you think they give them a blank cheque every month. Some people live in Canada but I really think they live in space.

Have you ever worked in a large business? Any idea the stack of payables/recievables one goes through in a day? Would you be scrutinizing your bosses work with enough time to uncover what took years to already find out?

yes that was me and it's fact. now put up or shut up

you said it didn't, i know it does.

You are right. I forgot I am talk to an idiot. Let me clarify it for you. Control of the money came out of the PMO, the actual cheques came out of the finance dept. Mr. Martin wouldn't have had to sign off on them is my point. Needle in a haystack.

Yo Fuzzy.

Think on this. If Martin is a clean virgin, how did he know to fire Gagliano the first day he was PM. The very first day !!! Yeah, he knew nothing about this shit. The senior caucus MP in Quebec and he knew nothing about this mess. And the first day he's PM he fire's Gagliano........ bloody amazing!

1. The Gomery Report I found that Paul Martin was present at the 1996 Cabinet meeting that established the Sponsorship Program,
2. that as Minister of Finance, Paul Martin, authorized the payment of $50 million every year to the sponsorship program,
3. Beyond Gomery, Paul Martin was known to take a very hands-on approach to management, first when he was president of Paul Desmairis' Power Corp and later as owner and president of Canada Steamship Lines. But we're asked to believe that Martin knew not and cared not where the money went or how it was spent when he became Minister of Finance. Only a dyed-in-the-wool Liberal Apologist would suggest such a thing is possible.

As for the Gomery report: his acquiescence with blatant witness-tampering and obstructionism carried-out by the Liberal government showed exactly how little regard he had for exposing the corruption and rot he was supposedly tasked to uncover. Ironically, now that Justice Gomery's ties to Paul Martin's inner circle are coming to light, it may soon be the judge who finds the spotlight shone on him.

Something tells me this one is faaaaarrrrrrrr from over,...

You know, millions of rivets pass through bridge builders hands every year, a couple of million lost here and there won't make any difference.

Oh dear, bridges are falling down, "hey wait a minute thems wern't my rivets" said ironworker Martin

Blue_Nose @ Fri Dec 09, 2005 8:01 pm

Rivets? Jeez Pluggy, you really dated yourself there

It was still a good analogy though...
