The game looks absolutely nuts, in one of their videos they had mentioned that they were able to program the forests not so that the weren't placed by a mapper but instead grew more like a real forest.

It comes out monday, does anyone else intend to snag a copy, my only concern is whether I should hold off until after finals.

Yes I was going to purchase it until I realized it wasn't online.

Well to each is own, I personally can't stand most online RPGs, they tend to have nothing in the way of a storyline, which is in my opinion what makes RPGs shine.

Is this part of the new "procedural" programming developments in games? I watched the clip on that new Spore game, and that seemed to be a significant component.

I don't know if this is something that's being used in a lot of games or not.... have military games developed to the point that you can blow holes in anything/everything?

I dislike most storylines. I just get told what to do and were to go, I want to have freedom!

There was the geo-mod engine (Red Faction) a few years back which allowed you to put holes in things, craters in the ground etc. not everything was destructible (e.g. doors weren't) but I haven't seen it instituted anywhere else yet.

That game series was never on line but if you want freedom in a game then this is the best. Not all game should be on line a specially the rpg's.The only good on line rpg I liked was Phantasy Star Online.

Got my copy yesterday. Nice game. Better than the previous Morrowind.

Then go outside and stop playing on your computer...

I absolutely loved Morrowind for it's cool objects, huge unique world, many things to do, and very good story lines. The main story line is freaking amazing!!!!!! But it was a very bug-plagued game, but still one of my favourites.

I've seen the trailers and videos to Oblivion, it looks soooooooooooo sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!! But I have some other things to spend 70 bucks on first......... And I don't like how the forests are now normal, I loved those giant mushrooms in Morrowind!!!! But Oblivion looks like a freakin' sweet game, even without the giant mushrooms.

I played this game for 20 hours over the weekend, and i barely played the main quest line, about the first 4 missions. Since then my wood elf agent is now a master theif in the thieves guild and a vampire. But after saying that, this game is absolutely wicked, running around the vived world and finding old ruins and stealing peoples belongings from their houses is really fun. The graphics are really well done and the AI is superb, everyone has their own schedule and they change things up from time to time. The thieves guild questline is probably the best thing so far, i've demoted a officer, stolen wizards goods, rooted an mole in the guild and even killed a wizard. That reminds me i'm stuck in oblivion so please forward all calls to my woodelf.

i've been playing this game too, never played one of these games, not much of an RPG'er either.

So far I like it, the graphics are amazing and you really don't need to follow the storyline if you dont want too. After playing wow for so long last year it does kinda seem its missing something not having it online, but i guess there are tradeoffs.

there is lots im still not sure about in the game. Like if you can just click and instantly travel to places on the map, why would one walk?

and i cna't seem to get into the thieves guild, I stole the book but the dude is never at the spot where i got the quest to hand it too him.

Because through travelling you can level up quicker find more loot etc. For example if you fast travel you don't get the experience for running/jumping or fighting various creatures along the way.

And often times theres a spot on the map which you know where it is, but haven't discovered it yet thus are forced to walk there to find it.

thats odd... have you tried waiting until 1 am the next day to hand it to him?

GhostDog3 @ Wed Mar 29, 2006 10:13 am

Yup! You have to wait till 12 am and he will be there.
