Omnibus COVID-19 virus discussion thread
The right to free speech and peaceful assembly is guaranteed as well as law. Only an emergency order from the Prime Minister and voted in favour of by the majority of the House can even have a chance of usurping that, and such a motion/vote is a long shot at best.

How effective are the Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines against Omicron?

I showed you judgments by the Supreme Court stating that public safety trumps the right to free speech. These protesters are perfectly able to speak their minds from the comfort of their own homes. Write it on a post-it note.
The same as assaulting that police officer was not speech; nor is spitting on someone if the spitter has HIV; carrying a virus that can kill people, and spreading it publicly is still assault. They can go home to their mothers basements and assault their pets with the virus.

Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Oh, right. Nothing to see here....

Canada doesn't have "free speech". We have the Freedom of Expression with terms and conditions.

Not at all. I simply think I will be all right on my own. I believe in my own immune system, which has improved drastically since I stopped having chronic bronchitis. I don't get sick at the drop of a hat these days, and I'm glad.
-J.
The booster is to help your immune system recognize and fight the virus. Very healthy people got really sick even if they believed in their own immune system.
Also, with a history of chronic bronchitis, I would not take that chance if I were you. The "booster" does what its name means: boost your immune system. You might get it, but it would be far less worse, like rickc.
Don't forget that it is still a "new" virus and researches are still going. The vaccine was never said to get you 100% immunized since it was impossible to say with the limited data available. It became evident quickly that it was not the panacea that we hoped.
However, one thing does seem sure: the vaccines help your body fight the virus and reduce the time length that you are sick and the seriousness of the symptoms.
On a final note, I have heard some people say that the vaccines are not "vaccines" because "real vaccines" immunize/protect you after your shot. They seem to forget that a lot of the vaccines they received required multiple shots and boosters during your lifetime (MMR, polio, meningitis, tetanus, hepatitis, influenza, etc).
This graph is worth sharing:
I had chronic bronchitis for almost 30 years. Started around the age of 8 or 9, and ended three years ago (age 38). My mom had the same thing, and hers vanished when she was 37. Our family has a small history with it, but I'm clear of it now.
I've had one cold in three years that only lasted two days. During my years of bronchitis, a cold would turn into the flu in two days, then bronchitis on the third or fourth day. I used to be able to get sick at the drop of a hat.

Living next to the United States has convinced far too many Canadians that being a responsible, law-abiding, & informed citizen is effectively optional.
Well Ontario has decided to go to online learning again! There go all my plans for the new year. I hate online learning I’m dyslexic ffs there’s a plethora of things that I can’t explain!! It’s also very hard to keep him focused when he’s at home with all his stuff!

Yep, it's a never-ending battle for me too when my kids sit on their computer all day long and would rather watch YouTube videos than listen to their teacher.
Still, I think it's better than sending kids to school so they can get Omicron and spread it to everyone they know. I had hoped my kids would finally get to go back to in-class learning because they'll be fully vaxxed by mid-January, but now I'm not so sure.

Hopefully him being 8 will help. Last year he ended up having a meeting with spec. ed. cause he wasn’t progressing in the spelling program. The thing was pissing him off so sometimes he just sat there and clicked with a nasty knot on his face till his 20 minutes was up. He was really pissed when the teacher said he couldn’t do the math game all the time! It’s not like I can help him with english and spelling there are still words I can’t read without context! That was reaffirmed when he had those words on a spelling test.

I can't even imagine not going into a classroom for school. It must be very challenging for parents to keep their kids focused on completing assignments and not being distracted by the home surroundings. Obviously, it is a much safer route right now but I can't help but feel bad about the lack of social interaction today's kids are going through plus not having the general classroom discussions and questions from others about the subject being taught.
The last time I even took night courses at college it was before at home online learning was even an option so I just can't relate. I always had a huge textbook and notes taken in-class for studying and reading at home.
