The Rangers played a great game tonight, but the go ahead goal by Paille with only 31/2 minutes left in the game was a total fluke and a total back breaker for the Rangers. It's a shame to see a fluke goal determine the game, and maybe the series, but that's the way the puck rolls. As for the Sharks, I think they're giving LA lessons on how to play in the playoffs tonight, just may end up tying the series.
Michalek scores shorthanded...1-0 Sens
I think that's it for the Sens tonight.
WOW 7-2 Penguins
7-3 final.....
While I still hope the Sens can pull it off, I know their chances are less than zero now the Penguins have the scent of victory. Maybe just one more home game for the Sens?
All through the first round and well into this one, I have hoped and prayed that team with such an outstanding regular season would show up.....tonight my prayers were answered. These are the Penguins who can put fear into the opposition. This is the team that can win the Stanley Cup - again.
PJ Stock made an interesting comment about the Pens tonight and it was really apt. To summarize he said that the Pens needed to play 60 minutes of play-off hockey and quit laying back - or words to that effect. He was right. The Pens needed to get over themselves and start giving their fans the hockey they deserve. Tonight they did.
That said, the reffing really sucked again tonight. At least two of the penalties that the Sens took were non-calls, IMO. Meanwhile, the Pens got away with some really nasty business. You don't need to give the Pens an extra man in order for them to score goals - though it was nice to see them have better PPs tonight - they can score with a man less equally well as Pascal Dupuis so beautifully proved.
The Penguins lead the series 3 - 1 and head back to home ice for Game 5.
Boston has a chance to sweep the series tonight - not a fan of the team but you gotta give them credit - they are grinders and they get the job done. In this series I am cheering for the Bruins as my utter disdain for Torty dictates no less.
Go, Bruins, Go!
The shit-show that's going to erupt in Colorado with Patrick Roy in charge of the team ought to be massively entertaining to watch for the next few years. This one could turn out even worse than what happened after the Islanders gave the team over to Mike Milbury.
The Bruins are showing the Rangers how to play hockey.
