There is no other side, no need for this at all. Public school, you won't hear about my religion, we don't want to hear about some perverted lifestyle. Simple as that.

Do you see the contradiction here? On onehand you want children to decide for themselves how they see the world and how they inerpret world events but then you want the schools to indoctrinate them with a worldview that predetermines an outcome to how those children view the world.
You cannot indoctrinate children and then ask them to exercise critical thinking skills because what happens when a child comes to the rational conclusion that (insert name of group) are not a group whose values/practices should be emulated or praised.
You're the one who needs to engage some of that critical thinking you're advocating.
While one can take anything to an irrational extreme, toleration of others is, for the most part, rational. It's a requirement of human society. I have plenty of disagreements with members of my own family, let alone others. But, unless it becomes clear that there is good reason to do otherwise, I still show people a modicum of respect. Crappy people may defy stereotypes. Great people usually do, and show up in the most unexpected places.
You have some belief in tolerance, too, or we wouldn't be having this dialogue. Sure, it still requires critical thinking skills. What doesn't?

They are playing games though. Wasn't it not too long ago that it was settled the state had no business what they do in their homes? Now they are trying to make the state promote what they do in their homes and make it everyone's business. If you are into multiple sexual partners are we going to have to learn about that too or everyone’s sexual pleasures?
Homosexuals are not a race or a civilisation they are people who suffer either from chemical imbalances within their brains or are homosexuals for psychological reasons. It is a medical and psychological condition if people wanted to learn about it can take a class of some sorts dealing with just that. But I don't think children need to learn about it in any school system forcibly. Learning about sexual education in school is optional if you do not wish to partake in it you do not have too. In kindergarten I remember we figure painted we didn't learn about sexual nature for you would probably be too young to even grasp the concept.
When were the people asked about this? When were the parents and teachers consulted in this decision-making? The government works for the people not the other way around the people should decide what they want their children to learn and be taught in school.

This situation has developed because very few parents teach their children anything about sex or anything else. In North America fewer than 20% of parents even bother to read to their kids. So abdicating parental responsibilities means someone else, like the school, has to do it. And then you've lost control and it gets harder to call the shots. In any case, I don't think teaching tolerance for gltb is quite the same thing as promoting homosexuality. And even if it were, promoting homosexuality can't make anyone gay unless they're gay already. Furthermore, I think there's far too much fuss made about sex education, and glbt tolerance when we should be focussing on a much more serious issue... as we saw yesterday... guns and violence. BTW, this purported newspaper has an agenda of its own... its news partner is Catholic World News. And as far as I'm concerned, Catholicism has very little credibility. One of its (the newspaper's) principles is "... the social worth of traditional Judeo-Christian principles but is also respectful of all authentic religions and cultures that esteem life, family and universal norms of morality." My universal norms of morality are true tolerance for all and not trite codewords for hate and exclusivity. (As you can guess, I'm a liberal.)
