I think you may be right, in that our flag has COME to represent those things. But make no mistake about it: our flag was designed and introduced by the Liberal party as a symbol of that party. It's roots are purely poltical.

Are you saying that non-Liberal party supporters were the one who made this comment?

I believe the person who sent the letter is a young white Anarchist.

Becuase all they know how to do is Bitch, instead of providing real alternatives.

Thats right, blame the white people, because we are the ones to blame about who does and doesnt get included in Canada.

You really show your age at times!!!!

Oh wait arent you young and white? do you see yourself doing this?

Aside from this assinine descision that the student association made to not rehang the flag of the country they reside in. YTF does a student from Burma feel excluded by the proliferation of US flags.

$1:
The correspondence quotes a 2001 article from MIT Tech Talk, the Boston-area university's official newspaper, that outlined how a student from Burma felt "excluded and intimidated" about the proliferation of American flags shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, hijackings in the United States.

I think the guy who sent the letter was trying to use an earlier precedent to get what he/she wanted. unfortunately since Canada currently enjoys more freedoms than America this might actually work

As a graduate from a top Ontario university myself, I can say that there are some seriously strange and ill-advised goings-on around campus from people with radical ideologies and no world experience... This is Canada... Our flag belongs everywhere in this country... to those who don't think so, ask yourself (or the people to whom being Canadian means more than a place to avoid living in whatever hell-hole your family left IN THE FIRST PLACE) if YOU truly belong here.

I'm not an Anarchist.

I blame the white person because it's generally the white little teenager retard who complains about, say, a racist joke, or something "unfair", and not the actual group indicated.

Generally, I've seen white people "sticking up" for other races because Young White people feel deep down that other races are incapable of defending themselves.
quote]

Of course it isnt the person being made fun of who complains, it just makes things worse for them, but standing up for someone does not make you an anarchist, and in this case I dont think the person who sent the letter was standing up for anyone.

I think the person who sent this letter is the type to fart in a crowded elevator just to watch the reaction of others. And of course our society/ Student Council is too politically correct that of course they are taking it seriously.

Trust me when I say this, it isnt just white people who are racist but we seem to be the only ones that label sticks to.

That's what our flag represents in the first place, inclusion.
The leaf was meant to represent the tree from which we all come from,
the points on the leaf represent the different cultures in Canada,
and the red rerpresented the blood that all humanity shares.

I think you may be right, in that our flag has COME to represent those things. But make no mistake about it: our flag was designed and introduced by the Liberal party as a symbol of that party. It's roots are purely poltical.

That's a complete load of shit, but Canada's inclusive enough that you may believe whatever nonsense you so choose.
You can even try to convince anyone else stupid enough to believe that, too.

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2009/03/31/cgy-mount-royal-flag-hang.html

$1:
An oversized Canadian flag that had hung from the roof of Wyckham House, the student services building owned and operated by the Students' Association of Mount Royal College, was taken down during renovations last year.

Rehanging it became an issue after an unsigned letter was submitted to the council raising the possibility that the flag could be seen as "exclusionary."

$1:
"People may not realize that overt displays of patriotism can also be seen as exclusionary and even sometimes work to undermine democratic ideals," the unsigned letter reads.

One anonymous letter from one wing nut and they have to have a debate over this?

damn place sure has changed since I went there in the 80's, sounds like it turned freakin Liberal

I thought the points on the leaf represented the provinces and territories.

There are only 11 points on it. Even when it came into being we had ten provinces and two territories(3 now).
