Hey, this is my maiden post... maybe changing a stupid law from 68 years ago will make Canada a better country, legalizing weed would help the Canadian economy... whats your opinion?

Welcome. You're not Mark Emery, looking for a loan, are you?

I voted no because I don't think that decriminalization is the right thing. Correct me if I'm wrong but Decrim. still makes growing and selling illegal, and folks who smoke will get a ticket. That still keeps the price high and that keeps the interest of criminals.
I think the only way to rid this is legalization but that has huge, far reaching effects that we'll need to work out.

I voted to decriminalize, but you do have a point. It certainly should not be against the law to grow for your own consumption. I grew last year for the first time and it did very well but it was a pain in the ass IMO. This year I bought from a friend that grows. It was much less hassle.

We certainly don't represent the average users though because we are both old and only smoke on rare occasions to relieve chronic pain. We have found a "chemo" variety that is smooth and powerful. It does the job of pain relief pretty well. Unfortunately, Pharmacare doesn't cover it.

Legalize this stuff and legislate it like booze.

If it's illegal to sell booze to kids then it's illegal to sell pot to kids
if it's illegal to make and sell booze without a permit then it's illegal to ....

Get my point

Wooo, You better decriminalize it quickly, one of the teachers from my school got caught with 90 plants in his home. Happened a few days ago in Port Alberni and hes getting in some major shit. Hes a nice guy though and these no evidence saying he was selling to kids, don't see what the big deal is.

If he was growing that much for his own use then he is going to be so stoned all the time that he won't be worth a shit as a teacher or anything else. If, on the other hand, he just wanted to supplement his salary, guess who he is planning to sell it to? I think we have a right to expect better behaviour than that from the custodians of our children.

That's a bit choppy on the logic, no? Could he not be doing both, using and distributing?

And, assuming you're suggesting he'd be selling it to students, why would we have to assume he'd be so irresponsible?

Could he not be selling it only to legal or illegal medical users? Couldn't it be possible he's just growing for a social circle of his that sponsors him for cost plus risk?

Either legalize it or leave it as it is. Decrim would put more money in their pockets which tempts them to steal more.

See you should have had Martin send this one through instead of the SSM thing, Now you don't get it at all.

Yes, decriminalize pot to give more street gangs more incentive to compete with each other and kill innocent people with guns with a recent surge in violence in Canada in yet another rehashed, tried and done to death topic.
