In our actual democracy, cooperation is slowed by fundamental disagreements about the good life. In deliberative democracy, people have more direct incentives to put these disagreements aside.

A DDM government will proposed a national holiday called Deliberation Day to allow voters to gather in large and small groups to discuss political issues.

Older relatives are pushing the young adults in their families to find mates and marry themselves. Likewise, DDM members are pushing citizens to agree and engage in a Social Contract.

You're talking to yourself again.

Another Conservative party, a whole new idea!?

Because every social relationships leading to a marriage are mostly exhilarating, there is no reason to think that it will not be exhilarating to contribute to the election of DDM.

By contrast, some couples are happy in weaker forms of union. All Canadian political parties, except DDM, are like them: they are happy to win an election with the slightest of margin and with a record low for participation.

Sure it Might be another conservative party but their are already 3 left wing parties need for balance

Plus The Conservative party is getting all screwed up in ideas that we need a new one but which is more libertarian on social issues so a practical party

Problem They are not a major party just get some conservatives to split off from the party creating a statement which in result would get people (specifically western voters) to join a other party in alliance from the conseritives resulting in a balance of power between the 2 Conservatives

Benoit @ Tue Apr 29, 2008 4:59 pm

Your party will make this problem worst.

Benoit @ Tue Apr 29, 2008 6:08 pm

Deliberative politics is about submitting power to reason.

Benoit @ Thu May 01, 2008 6:00 pm

The self-reflection induced by public deliberation or the participation that it requires deepens individual autonomy.
