You think Translink should pay money so that teens can be more comfortable while looking cool.

I don't think that's a very good investment. But that's not the point, bus shelters are not important. My main point is that you feel Translink has an obligation, a responsibility to provide shelters for you so you can look cool.

A mind that thinks like that is a real problem. The government doesn't owe you a bus shelter and until you can understand that and change your line of thinking people like me are going to object. Not to your suggestion but to the thinking behind the suggestion.

Also to add a nit pick to your video, not all UV rays are harmful. Only UVC are harmful. UVA and UVB are too low energy to cause radation burns.

I never said that translink should do something to make teens "look cool". Lets take another example, a citizen came back from shopping both hands are full... do they just stand under the rain? And this is localized this doesn't mean it has to happen over the region. This is Vancouver only. With thousands of tourist coming to Vancouver and being host of the 2010 Olympics and being top 5 most livable city, people would expect such small idea. And specially with everyone now adays saying take transit don't pollute.

It's not until post production we realized we made the UV mistake. But thats not the point of this topic.

And I didn't say that either. What you did say is that people don't like standing in the rain, but also don't want to hold an umbrella. As such they should be provided shelters.

Slip the bag handle on to your arm, freeing your hands, I do it myself so I can unlock doors.

Or

Get a trolly to load your stuff in. This idea was suggested to me when I said that using the bus to go buy food is a bum deal, and that driving a car is much better.

Because Vancouver should be the only one getting upgrades, fuck everyone else? Vancouver first, but make Surrey, Burnaby and Richmond pay for it? Or are you talking about the GVRD in general?

Transit does pollute and anyone that says otherwise should be beaten with a physics textbook untill they know better.

But again, we have a solution that people who are bothered by the rain can use very cheaply to avoid the problem, at no extra cost to everyone else.

Fair enough, they are called nit picks because they are unimportant. It's just me showing off how smart I think I am.

Well then they can stand in the wet waiting for the bus and be cool
....

Again.. these are examples and your option can be argued many times.

And yes, this topic is about Vancouver only. But i didn't say f all. You need to start of somewhere, right?

And you miss understood me, I was saying people now adays are saying take the bus instead of polluting (taking your car)

I love Vancouver. I live in Vancouver. I've lived in many cities but when I first clapped eyes on North Van I aid to myself "This is the place."

But what drives me nuts is that the whole laid-back Vancouver attitude is a veneer, a charade. Vancouverites are actually way more uptight than Winnipeg folks (where I lived previously). Maybe it's because people are wealthier and have a higher expectation that everything should be "their way." Who knows.

But having played in bands in the bars of Vancouver for many years, I simply couldn't believe all the stupid laws they have. In one place--a Newfy bar no less--when someone started to dance we had to stop playing. Dancing was verboten by the liquor nazis, since it was a "restaurant."

They have a lot of stupid laws here which is why a lot of people call it "No-Funcouver."

Love Vancouver for the scenery; love Winnipeg for its people.

The costs are shared by all, so why only improve a single area first?

Are the people in Vancouver more worthy of this upgrade than anyone else? If they are not, then why does Vancouver go first? Wouldn't a round robin of the most used stops that are just a sign going in that order be more fair?

If shades are just placed in heavily populated area like most shades are atm.. then this topic is rubbish. We are here to discuss having bus shades in the whole city. It should be Vancouver because this area is mostly visited by tourists and the show is about Vancouver, Not other regions.

For what it's worth, I agree with you.

Almost every time I've been to Vancouver, it's been pouring, and if you have to take the bus, it makes little sense that the city hasn't spent a few bucks and put up some sort of shelter.

More nude beaches at Stanley Park, please.

More rules about who's allowed to be nude at nude beaches.

I'll second that - the one time I went to Stanley Park was also my last! 8O PDT_Armataz_01_32

That's my biggest problem with nude beaches/resorts. The people you wish to see nude aren't there but the people who should be burka clad are their in droves!

My Mom's funeral was in Burnaby Friday. Then we had to go back to my sister's in Abbotsford. It took TWO HOURS to do that on the freeway Friday afternoon. TWO HOURS.

Sunday night it took two hours to go from Prince George airport, drop off my kid and grab burgers in PG and drive all the way to Fort St James. 175 kms or so.

It's not another region.

To the left of the road Vancouver master race who should be given bus shelters, before anyone else in the GVRD even though transit costs are shared by all the member cities.

To the right dirty Burnaby mongrels that should be greatful they can live so close to such a great city. They should be happy to pay for a higher standard of service for people that live in Vancouver.
