Half the problem with our laws is that society is producing left wing liberal judges that want to blame society as a whole for these tragic events. Why is it that the parents of gang members aren't punished? why is no pressure being put on them? Why is it still this "bad bad white man / bad bad society" crap?
Give it a rest, put the blame squarely where it belongs!

Was this particular child innocent i can't answer that with certainty. If he was not does it truly change anything. He still remains an 11 year old child, when we expect an 11 year old to be wholly accountable for his actions with adult interpretations of that we fail. A child is not fully emotionally or developmentally grown at 11.
Innocent? I doubt it. What innocent children do you know who hang with gang members at 1am in the morning?

Parents are the chief guiding factor in that development . This is one particular isolated case involving a gun, there are many other issues with todays children that are detrimental to society. I am in agreement with the culture of which you speak, but there are many facets to that culture. When you view it in terms of it's accoutrement be it clothing,movies,music that set the "mood" for this culture.
Then there's quite a list of things that need to be eliminated with regards to that destructive culture.

A child under 15 would need the support and blessing of the parent to achieve that.
Not really. If the kid is, as I suspect, a lookout or even a dealer then he was probably making more money than you and I do and would be effectively emancipated.

Parents need to be front and center for there child from birth onward. Being a child's friend is easy, being a child's parent is hard damn accountable work. Ignorance is bliss.
Dead on right. The parents are as guilty of this child's death as if they pulled the trigger themselves.

Clean up the city of Toronto. Look at the areas of Toronto were this happens, at fix it. With being tough on crime and being proactive. Since that'll involve racial profiling the left would rather see a couple more decades of this crazy wanton violence in order as to not offend any one though.
Its becoming more and more obvious the old liberal ideology of how to do things in todays world is becoming more and more outdated and impotent. We can only blame others for other peoples action for so long until we all collectively say enough is enough.

BTW Jane Creba who was shot and killed on boxing day last year was a white girl.

Oh, why is Taliban Jack foolishly wasting his time with foreign problems when he, and his outspoken wife, could be back in their home town healing the rift between gangs. I publicly urge the Laytons to both go to Toronto and stand between the rival shooters and peace-keep for the sake of all Canadians.
On a serious note, how come soo many worthless asswipes come from Toronto in the first place? What a dump. I'm glad I live in a safe place like Surrey.

If nothing else, despite the fact none of the responses have anything to do with the tragic death of this little boy ( because he wasnt white?) at least I generated some response to a thread that would have just faded away into oblivion
