So the flag respresents violence? Why should I respect a symbol of violence?

A country is cooperative venture; its flag symbolizes hard fought peace deals.

A flag is not a country. Treaties and laws symbolise hard fought battles. Flags are just peices of cloth. Even without a flag, our laws and treaties still stand.

Red symbolizes blood.

The flag symbolizes the laws and treaties we have.
It summarizes who we at a glance without being long winded about it.
Thats what symbols do.
Or would you rather run the laws and treaties up the flag pole?

The flag symbolizes our collective identity that is, the laws and treaties we respect.

The flag is a peice of cloth. Our laws are more important than a rag.

A flag is the symbol of a nation, you don't spit on it, you don't burn it.

You can spit on it and burn it all you want. It changes nothing. Rags symbolise nothing.

I guess symbolism is lost to you. Don't you have anything you find of any sort of sentimental value?

Sentimentality is a political tool for starting wars.

No wars are going to be started because somebody burned a flag. Try again.

I should just come over and steal all of your family antiques and photo albums. I bet its not worth much, yet it has great sentimental value to you no?

To me, not having a ladder or not having the time to climb up can be good reasons for a while in the particular case of Poulin's Pest Control.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
To burn that is to symbolically disrespect all of that.

Incorrect. To burn it is the only way to dispose of a flag respectfully. To throw it in the garbage is to show disrespect for all of the above.

Borrow a ladder. You know how long it takes for a flag to lose a red bar? Usually over 2-3 months in bad weather.

Not having time to climb up? Hire a kid. Do it on your break. Fucking pay someone to do it.

A country is more than an accumulation of individual responsibilities.

Fuck, I'd climb up that ladder for free with a Canadian flag I bought myself and replace it for their lazy ignorant disrespectful asses if they let me.

Instead of posting an ugly picture on this very fine Canadian forum, TheRealGV should have thought about doing exactly what you project here.

To start, I certainly respect our Canadian flag.

It is not simply just a piece of ''rag'', as some might suggest. And by the way, the Canadian flag, also the provincial flags, should be the only ones flown or displayed in this country.

As for some ''true'' Canadians, it is a matter of pride. :D People, at the very least, should show some courtesy and be respectful. That is civility after all. :D

He is just bringing it into public light that there is this disrespect. Perhaps to help inspire more proud Canadians to do what I just proposed.

He attempted to convince them to change the flag and the laughed at him. I almost completely doubt they'd let him near the flag.

Pest controllers can be weird people, Tom DeLay was a pest controller before entering US politics.
