North Korea ballistic missile test fails, NBC News confirms
Happened a few hours ago.
China isn't having much influence on the Norks.

As much as I utterly detest Trump I have to admit it might finally be time to slam a couple hundred cruise missiles into the Nork launching facilities just to send a message.

And when NK slams a few hundred artillery shells into Seoul what then?
A bunch of MOABs and Daisy cutters into the suspected artillery placements. Leave everything from the DMZ to Pyongyang as a mass of craters.

Maybe then SK finally grows a pair?

Pretty sure the artillery emplacements have been thoroughly mapped over the decades. With the cave-busters the US has now they probably won't last more than a few hours before they're nailed too.
Not cheering for this. Just pointing out that the technological advantage the US has now is so overwhelming that the Nork ability to last out more than a few days is laughable.

Still think your theory of a China-North Korean Military coup is possible and probably the best outcome to put an end to the Kim's.

Which will be a few hours too late for a couple million South Koreans.

The 'Norks' have better technology than the Taliban and ISIS did when military action began. Both of those groups are still 'in the fight'. If the North Koreans hold a fraction of the time that either of those groups did, there won't be much South Korea left to defend.
Unfortunately, the technology that allows the North Koreans to inflict that level of damage is almost 100 years old now.

Hopefully. At this stage though I'm guessing that American bombing of some sort is definitely now going to happen before a Beijing-backed decapitation of the Nork leadership occurs.

It is the only realistic solution.
If a hot war breaks out, it won't matter who started it. S.Korea will take a beating, and a great deal of Asia will lay that blame directly at the feet of the US. Right or wrong.

That's debatable, considering that about half of the North's submarine fleet sank when they sortied last year. Their air force will last less long than Saddam's did if they got into it in a real fight with the USAF, Navy, and South Koreans.

China's leader and Trump probably talked about this when they met in Washington.

It's a political move the World has to support.

North Korea has functioning satellites. There is no debate between their technology and the Taliban or ISIS.
Also, what makes you think they will stand and fight, head on? They are far more likely to fire off a couple salvos, and disappear into the jungle. Sadly, many are already prepped to move into S.Korea once the invasion happens, if they don't already have assets there already, to start an asymmetrical campaign.
If this goes down, it is going to be a shit storm for the whole peninsula. There is no real way around that.
Thanos @ Fri Apr 28, 2017 4:04 pm
Maybe. But this time there's a system of defenses between the US and the South that wasn't there in 1950. There won't be a repeat of the mass invasion that happened which kicked off that war.
FOX is reporting that the missile "broke up in flight" and there's reason to believe that a Japanese missile destroyer shot it down as it was going to overfly Japan.
Japan deployed a proven anti-missile system on at least a dozen of their ships last year and it makes sense they'd run a 'live fire test' coincidental with the Nork launch.
I hope so, just because it'd be funny!
