Lastly, sorry I am having REAL trouble with Kyle Snyder's story (you know, the one who left his fellow soldiers to hang out to dry). He trained as a gunner on the .50 cal rifle? Rifle? Anyone who ever trained as a gunner on the .50 would have a pretty good idea that the .50 is a heavy machine gun and about as far from a rifle as you could hope to get.
We had these deserters here before but that was the era of the draft........
How would you feel if the US was sheltering our deserters?
Oh well for the better red than dead peaceniks........blow me!!!!!!
Sorry to screw up your rant bud but......
The Browning 50cal M2HB is not alone any more.
Commercially available in the US to civilians are about 15 different rifles chambered for the M2's 50 cal round. The most famous is the Barrett----which Canada's gun grabbers have seen fit to put upon the prohibited weapons list. The others are merely restricted.
The Barrett is a massive semi-auto equiped with a large muzzle brake and apparently is an adventure to fire non-the-less.

First off, he was refering to the mounted 50 cal HMG (yeah I did actually subject myself to that POS flick) not the Barrett or its British cousin. Folks who train on them tend to refer to themselves as snipers, not gunners.

I shake my head, these people know they could end up in theater. My take on this is they want the free education but they have no intention of serving their country.
My cousin joined the Army and after basic training and military training (she was trained as a Public Relation's clerk) she was posted to Afghanistan, well all of a sudden her "Nerves" couldn't take a posting outside of her home province of NS. She was released, she wasted our tax dollars getting trained over a one year period. She's still unemployed, I guess explaining wasting the Military's time and money has been difficult for her to new employers.

Theater?
Like in entertainment?
I hardly think going to Iraq against your wishes and having your balls blown off, because bush lie, is entertainment
Maybe they signed up because they thought they could make a difference some where.
Not occupying a foreign country who was doing you no harm
Especially when that country a few years earlier were a good friend
