Umm, no offense, but you do know that the only reason the US is having problems in Iraq is because they are trying to win the peace and implement a government. If there was a war with Canada(as has been discussed MANY times here)it would depend on what the US is trying to do. If the US is trying to win the peace(which it would have to have a reason for wanting to do)they would probably lose because that is hard for ANY country to do. If the US and Canada were just going at it militarily, do you honestly think that Canada's army is a army that could defeat the American army? The US manpower is bigger than Canada's population, the US economy is bigger, and the US air power is stronger. I do no mean any offense, but do you honestly think that if Canada prepared for war(which they would have to do with the US attacking them)that they would defeat the Americans? Currently the US spends BILLIONS of dollars on their military(probably 1/3 of Canada's GDP). I'm not trying to say we should start a war, or that I'm entirely proud of my country's love for war, but I think your assumption that Canada would defeat the US is ridiculous.

Even if Canada has plans, the US has a decent intelligence service(whens it's actually used right  )plus many ways to watch what Canada is doing from space. Hmm, there might be a decent battle, but you have to remember that in any major battles, numbers are what usually matters, and the US has that on their side. As far as training goes, the US has a pretty advanced training program, an advanced command structure, and overall is up there with the best as far as militaries go(there's no way to compare because not many countries do missions which you try to win the peace in another country - so the whole "look how bad you guys are doing in Iraq" line doesn't really hold -- although you could bring up UN peacekeeping missions, but the US HAS done well in some of those also).[/quote]

You know, if the whole US army wants to attack Canada, and if non of the canadian people want to fight. then sure as hell you'll win. I don't know about elsewhere, but most people I know would gladly take up arms against the us if they ever began attacking us. Say 1 in 30 for the whole of canada. Suddently we have a million man army. And most of the US army personel come from blue states, some of which have drawn plans to become a part of Canada (I don't know how old the plans were, but I recently heard something about washington and oregon possibly merging with BC). So chances are that half your army would rebel. so suddently its 50-50. plus 1 million from Canada. You guys would be on the losing front. And knowing your media habits, public outrage against the war will be sky high in a shit hurry.

I'm in air cadets, we are based at CFB comox. The general there says the war would probrably last a week before Canada fell. And thats including all of the americans appearent top secret military programs, such as the aurora aircraft and military cloning, as well as no citizens support in the fight from Canada.

nato would quickly get involved, France and germany's new Euro fighters would probrably be over here in a day, so thats 150 euro fighter (the equivilent of an F-22) and 104 CF-18s against 100 F-18s, 100 F-15's, 50 F-14s, 50 F-22s and 200 other us aircraft. Sure its 2 to one for america, but that will be a hell of a fight. I'm sure britan would get involved with their ground forces, along with all our other fellow commonwealth countrys, russia may send their air force over, although they are more likely to just start pumping nukes out all over the place. And China... They would probrably do the same thing, although from what I experianced going over there, they'd probrably help out too.

On the other hand. The US does have some arab countries routing for them, aswell as isrial, although the swiss and Italy, aswell as the rest of NATO would probrably beat them up...

If all went right for canada if it was attacked by the US, we'd end up having a third world war.

Sure, you can have all the pancakes you want -- but where are you gonna get teh maple syrup? Huh?

Not to hijack the thread anymore than it is, but most of the New England states produce their own maple syrup. State tree of NY = sugar maple.

Curses, foiled again...

Hey, at least they'll be responsible for their own death by obesity. We can still take over!!!!! :D

Hate to tell you, but most Americans couldn't find Canada on a map even if the map were in the middle of Toronto. Shit, most Americans can't find AMERICA on a map.

Here's how a survey of Americans would go to this question:

"Should the United States annex Canada?"

"Canada?" 87%

"Don't we already own it?" 5%

"I don't want any more Mexicans in the USA!" 2%

"Annex?" 6%

"Does it require math skills?" 6%

I thought it was just meant to be a joke. And it wouldn't be considered flaming at all if the poll was say, in rural Kentucky. Either you have smart people there, obviously not included in this poll, on the net, or dumb people (included for the most part in this poll) who don't even know what the internet is, so they wouldn't care cause they arn't here to be flamed.
