Then you should have no problem proving it wrong. You can't though even right-wing are saying that Bush targeted the religious vote and played on people's fears about 9-11. The fact that a majority of Bush supporters think there is a connection between Saadam and Osama is laughable, but it is still a fact.

Bush went for hate and fear, Uglu Yank. It's in his speeches, it's in his policies.

Ugly is right here and it is one of the things that irritates me about the extreme left but you get the same from the extreme right as well but not as much.

Having said that the reason for Bush’s victory is as follows....

-Karl Rove chose to target the religious base of the party and it worked very well, they definitely got that vote out.

-Fear, no question of it. The republicans used the events of 9/11 to build on the worry of many Americans who have been traumatized by the events in 2001. If you look at the comparisons between Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. you will see what I mean, it is actually quite shocking.

Political parties target certain segments of society. Liberals target the extreme left kooks, conservatives target the religious right. What's your point?

Regardless of how you want to view this last election, the top two reasons for voting for the president were: Morals and the economy. I don't see fear listed anywhere in the top two. Let me look again...nope still don't see it.

Now, did people vote for the president knowing Sen. Kerry was a candy-*ss liberal and wanted to reduce terrorism to, "...a mere nuisance," absolutely. People voted for the president not out of fear, but out of knowing he would do more in defending the country against terror.

Prove it. Put your kookism where your month is. Show me where he makes the point for hating someone.

You're kidding right? The entire subtext of the Repulican campaign was hatred. Hate gays, hate Arabs, hate liberals, hate the French, hate the Germans, hate the Canadians.

I've been listening to you guys hate everything for a long time now. It's a little late to deny it. It's not to lote for you to hang your head in shame though.

No, no. Put your kookism where your mouth is. Prove it. When did he make the point for hate? What speech? The date? Location? Come now, here's your chance to convert me to kookism.

...and why would they care about terror?

Just making an observation...that's all Ug. Take a look at Bush's dad and his defeat. I believe the central theme of the campaign was family values and Bush had success as far as Iraq was concerned and yet he was defeated.

I know Avro, you are making an argument, I'm making mine. That's how we learn from one another. That's how we teach each other and maybe some day we will discover common ground. I enjoy debating. I am fascinated by people's passionate views. Right or left, I mean wrong:)

Bush Sr.'s major screw up was his rasing of taxes after promising not to raise them.

LOL, I remember that election day. I was laid up in the hospital following surgery on my lower back. When he lost, I called for the nurse and a healthy dose of morphine. My back really hurt:)

Rev_Blair @ Sun Nov 07, 2004 4:15 pm

Every speech. What was his main theme? Those bad men with accents are coming to get us.

What does the Christian right (Bush's main support group) think of gays. It hates them...considers them abominations.

The hate-mongering and fear mongering was so thick you could cut it with a knife and no dissent was allowed. You had sign a pledge to get into one of Bush's little photo-ops. The few people who tried to protest agasinst him were shouted down and arrested.

Deny it if you want, Ugly Yank. You are so full of fear and hate that you can;t even recognise it anymore.

Every speech? Wow!

That should make it simple for you to post your proof. Please educate us unwashed masses. URL please? Date? Location? Text?

Start with the wolf ads? That wasn't fear mongering. How about the alert levels?

Hate crimes against Arabs are way up, especially in red states. Against homosexuals too.

How about the Republican campaign saying that liberals were going to ban the Bible?

Go find your own links, Ugly Yank.

Everybody here has seen what I'm talking about. The hate even comes through in your own words.

I sincerely hope you can prove that as I suspect that is not the case at all. Fear? You bet, and why not.

Should we discuss what the pathetic Democrats were up to?

It seems to me that the only person propagating hate on this fine fora is you. Always has been and no doubt will come across as the major point in whatever freelance crappola you happen to pontificate on a largely unsuspecting public. . . . assuming anyone will actually pay for your minor hate-filled musings. We have indeed and it sucks the big one bud. When it comes to hate for the United States and it's fine citizens you clearly are obsessed.

In fact, if you don't mind my saying so, you might be better off personally and professionally if you spent more time at the intersections of Portage and Main helping to assist and figure out why business that's crucial to your very own local economy, is bust. . . . and not going anywhere.

Your thoughts?. . . .
