Geesh, you are even allowed to say "f*ck you" to a cop

We allow people to do the same. But then we turn a blind eye when the cop beats them down, too.

Glad you're out of Holland and I'm sorry of the necessity for you to have to leave that nation that was once a global superpower in her day.

It's a shame eh? :?

We have so much to be proud of as Dutchies, and now all we are known for, is for tolerance of the intolerant... And I don't think that is something to be proud of...

And wooden shoes.

Where do the Muslims in Holland come from? I have to tell you that I was pretty surprised that Iranians are so low-key (generally--they get very excited at soccer!), considering they have such a wing-nut in charge. (Of course, I could say the same thing about most Americans I meet. Ha ha ha.) I wonder if some countries are more problem than others.

Really? I spent 3 years or so there.....When the moslems gained the upper hand during their troubles with the communists, they showed such imaginative colourful ways of dealing with communists...........

Brenda @ Wed Jan 30, 2008 10:39 pm

There, they might, I don't know, never been there... But in Holland? I couldnot tell you which Indonesian was muslim, and which was not. With the Turkish and Moroccan, I can tell you instantly...

As things stand in Europe, there are plenty of eastern Europeans who would gladly fill the roll that the Arabs and Turks did before the Iron Curtain came down. Why not send the societal malcontents back to their cultural hearths and offer the 'undesireable' jobs to other Europeans? The need for a labourers in Europe can be filled by other Europeans, people who share a similar culture(secularism or Christainity) and values, rather than those who are so.......disruptive.

because you're more welcomed when you're a muslim black mom of three kids with no education but the whole bunch of relatives, than if you're a white christian (or atheist or agnostic or whatever) and educated eastern european?

i could never solve this riddle! and don't call ME a racist!

Lots of Muslims in my neighbourhood. No gay bashing. So much for that theory.

Where are the gays?

They're around. I assume that the more hardcore Muslims don't have much time for them. Same for the Baptists.

Hopefully we will learn from the mistakes of Europe. There's a lot of Muslims in my neighbourhood--predominately Iranians and Iraqi refugees. But it's not like the whole place is dominated by them. But there's not much crime here. It's a great neighbourhood.

Precisely my point. See what happens when they dominate.

Well I don't think it's a good idea to let your culture be overrun by rampant immigration, so hopefully that won't happen.

It's happening now.. you just dont see it yet.. refugees.. wait 2 generations..

The refugees you have now will be fine.. theyre happy to be alive.

The kids will be lots of trouble.

Welll, kids are lots of trouble anyways. I think that as long as the numbers are limited, there won't be a problem. They simply let in too many in Europe.

you're kidding or what?
you certainly heard of the number of children in muslim immigrant families vs. local families in Europe? you know what Kosovo Albanians being so welcomed in Switzerland do par ex.? they do kiddies! That's pretty much all! So wait another generation or two and the picture thathas Bart drafted out so well will be all live in front of you!

Well, all I can say is, that "we" don't want the Eastern Europeans to take the jobs... At the moment "we" need them for ourselves, and the Easterners are working for less money, and what they make, will be shipped out of the country, to Poland or Romania or something. To the families...

Well, there's not much I can do about the demographics situation. People native to Canada don't have many kids, so pretty much any immigrant subset will grow faster than the geenral population. There seesm to be an inverse relationship between affluence and number of offspring.

I suppose I could live in a state of constant fear that the nasty Muslims are breeding faster than "us." I choose not to. I prefer to think that Muslims who come here will eventually adapt to their new society and make our culture richer and stronger.
