I think its very far fetched. The majority of NATO is European, they have no love of Israel, both recently and look at historical European anti-semitism. It is just not even a thought over there. The Palestinian Authority has a way better chance of getting in NATO.

   

Israel joining NATO? I wonder if there will be a NATO in ten years given the current european dislike of US dominated NATO. Given the rather bellicose state of Israeli foriegn policy and the distaste many europeans feel for it's West bank operations the only way it would enter NATO is if the only other member was the US.

but it doesn't show where Israel touches the North Atlantic. I'm sure left to steal land uchecked it will some day though. Doesn't having something to do with the North Atlantic have anything to do with joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation? Pardon my ignorance.

NATO was designed to protect Europe from a large common threat, the USSR. IT was designed to creat a balance of power to deter any attack. This is not the case in Israel. Extending Nato to include Israel make no sense militarily. If we want to include them in NATO, it would be just to save their ass, and would be of little benifit to us. Not to say that we shouldn't in such case, but it should be on a coalition or UN based mission, rather than NATO.
