So here we go, fasting from dawn until sunset occurs

There are rules around here for Rammadan, as in some places the sun might not set until 10pm, and if Ramamdan is later in the summer as it is some years, the sun may not set until September.
As you could guess, it would not be fun to be Muslim in the North. I think Muslims are allowed to observe the time the sun sets in Mecca, as the official local sunset in that case.
Just as an FYI - near where I live was one of the first Mosques in North America.

Good to know

He must have asked some Mufti for this exception because local time is always followed for fasting/Ramadan.

Yes...Islam never enforces hardships on its followers. The case you described that sun not setting in until September

, definitely Muftis/scholars allowed Muslims to observe Mecca time.

https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/318379-heatwave-warning-for-karachi-mercury-likely-to-hit-43cThe Met Office on Thursday issued heat wave warning for next six days, saying temperature will gradually increase from Saturday resulting into moderate heat wave conditions in the country.
In its advisory which was sent to all concerned departments, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has stated that day temperatures are likely to remain 40-43⁰C during next 5 to 6 days in Karachi.
While keeping in view the ongoing month of Ramazan and people fasting, the PMD has asked concerned authorities to ensure an adequate supply of power and water, so that situations may not aggravate for the public.
The Met Office further stated that due to the developing low pressure area off Indian Coast in the Arabian Sea, the breeze along Pakistani Coastline will get weak and humidity would rise. Under such conditions, temperatures along Pakistan coastal areas including Karachi will gradually increase during the next 5-6 days resulting into moderate heat wave conditions.

Yes, Muslims have a good reputation here for their community involvement. There are often meals served to the homeless, and many events throughout the year. We have a celebration every year called '

Mysterious disappearance of Christians in Youhanabad, community puts forth grievance
Members of Christian community based out of Karachi in Pakistan met District Inspector on Friday to inform about mysterious disappearances of Christians and "raids" conducted in Youhanabad.
As reported by Dawn, residents of Youhanabad Christian colony, located in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Block 13-G, protested against disappearances of young Christian men.
Superintendent of Police Murtaza Bhutto moderated the discussions while Father Saleh Diego, Parish Priest at St Paul Parish, represented the community.
The members alleged that within a span of few weeks, 24 young Christian men were picked up by police on various pretexts or sometimes without any clarifications.
They further informed that some men, who appeared to be security officials, showed up wearing masks in the dead of the night, riding in cars without license plates.
The accused then broke down the doors across neighborhood and abducted the men.
The family members further alleged that these incidents started taking place since March 30 when six young men were taken away as part of the first incident.
On April 15, four youth were arrested and further 14 people disappeared.
Those abducted on May 8 are still missing.
As per a woman, whose husband is abducted, the alleged security officials had asked her husband's identity and demanded to see his identity card. They then assaulted the victim and dragged him away.
The victim was scheduled to appear for an interview at a call center when he was abducted.
Further, the family of another victim said on April 15 the alleged officers broke into their house using some sort of lock cutters.
Some arrested young men were blindfolded and transported to unknown areas.
One of them reported being tortured with electric shocks for three days in a row.
"They kept asking me to do exactly as they say. They constantly kept asking me about different people, encounters and weapons" victim informed.
He was taken away on April 15 on basis of a false case registered against him.
He was rescued by his family as they shared pictures of their abducted sons on social media platform, WhatsApp and managed to obtain bail for one of them.
Another victim who managed to return said he was being taken away by "officers".
The Christian community representatives further informed that the men raiding their homes bring a criminal named Shiraz with them who "identifies" the youngsters and abduct them.
Further, the victims are said to have no connection with any political organisation or community.
Some of the victims have been granted bail.
Christians filed an official complaint with IG Sindh and other notable figures. An FIR was also filed on behalf of the community.
They further requested the authorities to be informed in case the accused is arrested.
They had earlier reached out to relevant court as well regarding the matter but no action was said to be taken.

Pakistani Exchange Student Among Dead in Texas Shooting

A Pakistani exchange student is among the 10 people killed Friday in a shooting at Santa Fe High School in the state of Texas.
Sabika Sheikh was to return home to Pakistan for Eid al-Fitr, a three-day holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, according to the Pakistan Association of Greater Houston on Facebook. The eldest of three daughters, Sabika, 17, resided in Karachi, reported Geo TV in Pakistan.
She had been in the U.S. under the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program since Aug. 21, 2017. She would have returned home when her program ended next month.

FILE - In this image taken from video law enforcement officers respond to a high school near Houston after an active shooter was reported on campus in Santa Fe, Texas, May 18, 2018.
"She came to the U.S. to learn, to experience, to share and to bring back to her country all the knowledge she acquired during her exchange," wrote friend and fellow exchange student George Lapadat in a tribute on Facebook.
"She was young, vibrant, happy and super excited to go back to her country. She was going to return in a few days. She has done an amazing job of being an amazing ambassador to her country here. She has volunteered in her community, she was involved in lots of activities and she created a lot of lifelong friendships," Lapadat said.
"But she died today in the horrific Santa Fe, Texas, shooting," wrote Lapadat, a Romanian exchange student in the Future Leaders Exchange Program through the U.S. State Department, who is living in Lakeville, Minnesota. "Her family and friends will never get to see her again. When she left for this trip, she was supposed to be gone for 10 months. ... but now she is gone forever. And if this is not enough to prove that something is wrong and something needs to change, I don't know what else would be."
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed his condolences Saturday to the family and friends of Sabika.
"Sabika was in the United States on the State Department-sponsored Youth Exchange and Study program, helping to build ties between the United States and her native Pakistan," Pompeo said in a statement." Sabika's death and that of the other victims is heartbreaking and will be mourned deeply both here in the United States, and in Pakistan."
Her family was reportedly bereft in Pakistan.

Abdul Aziz Sheikh, left, father of Sabika Sheikh, a victim of a shooting at a Texas high school, comforts an elderly woman at his home in Karachi, Pakistan, May 19, 2018.
"It is still so very hard to believe that [Sabika is dead]," her father told Geo News. Geo reported that the family could not reach Sabika by mobile phone after hearing about the shooting following iftar on Friday. The consul-general in Houston confirmed that the student had died.
"It is with greatest sadness in my heart that I need to inform you that one of our YES students, Sabika Sheikh of Pakistan, was killed in the school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas," wrote Megan Lysaght, program manager for the Kennedy Lugar YES program.
"Please know that the YES program is devastated by the loss and we will remember Sabika and her families in our thoughts and prayers," Lysaght said.
WATCH: Sabika Sheikh made this video to express her feelings about being accepted into the YES program.
There were approximately 7,015 students from Pakistan in the U.S. in secondary and higher education in 2016-2017, a 14 percent increase from the previous year, according to the Institute of International Education.
Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, a junior at the school, opened fire before 8 a.m. at Santa Fe High School, according to law enforcement. Ten people were killed, and 10 others were wounded. Pagourtzis has been charged with murder.
Cynthia Tisdale, a teacher, was among those killed, her family confirmed. Tisdale was married for nearly 40 years and had three children and eight grandchildren, her niece Leia Olinde said.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the suspect, who is being held without bond in the Galveston County jail on capital murder charges, originally intended to commit suicide following the shooting but told law enforcement officials after he was arrested that he didn't have the courage to go through with it.

Sabika Sheikh Came to America for an Education, Then She Was Murdered in School
A 17-year-old Pakistani girl was taken in by a Texas family to learn about U.S. culture before she was gunned down in Santa Fe High School.
Stephen Paulsen
05.20.18 10:53 AM ET
SANTA FE, Texas—Sabika Sheikh came to the United States to learn about American culture as part of a State Department-funded scholarship program.
On Friday, Sheikh fell victim to a gruesome American tradition, massacred with nine others at school by a gun-wielding classmate.
This time it was at Santa Fe High School near Houston, Texas. Among the victims were two popular substitute teachers, Ann Perkins and Cynthia Tisdale, as well as 16-year-old Shana Fisher, whose mother said the alleged shooter “kept making advances” at her daughter, Los Angeles Times reported.
Authorities said the suspect, Dimitrios Pagourtzis, confessed to the killings, telling police that he spared people he liked. It’s unclear what Pagourtzsis could have possibly had against Sheikh, whom grieving friends described to The Daily Beast as a smart, sweet and perpetually happy young woman.
Sheikh, 17, was from Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, and had been living with an American host family about two miles from the school where she was killed.
On a sweltering, drizzly afternoon, hundreds of people crowded into a mosque outside of Houston to pay respects to Sheikh. The service was so-well intended that it caused a traffic jam.

Nasir Shenwari (C), holding daughter Aunza, grieves as the casket of Santa Fe High School shooting victim Sabika Sheikh, 17, leaves after a funeral service in Stafford, Texas, on May, 20, 2018. - Sheikh was an exchange student from Pakistan.
In the back of the mosque sat Sheikh’s host parents, Jason and Joleen Cogburn. Jason wore all black. His eyes were closed. His hands were clasped. His head hung down, with long and wavy blonde hair spilling in front of his face. He looked on the verge of tears.
Jason beamed, however, once he took the mic.
“I guess I’ll start with what happened last spring,” he said.
He recounted how Sheikh had come into his family’s life as an exchange student. One of his three daughters, who had been homeschooled prior to Sheikh’s arrival, had, he said, “found a friend.”
“I had no idea what God was going to send us,” Jason said. “He sent us one of the most precious gifts I’ve ever had in my life.”
“We loved her, and she loved us,” he added. “When she started Ramadan and started fasting, my family did that with her, because we did things together. Because, really, the root of our issue is love.”
Next came Joleen, wearing an Islamic prayer shawl that, she explained, Sheikh had given her as a Mother’s Day present. She choked back tears as she spoke with a slight Texas twang.
“I’m sure y’all see the love she has given us,” Joleen said.
Those who knew Sheikh personally were few and far between. Most had come, they told The Daily Beast, simply to show support.
Nasir Abassi, the first Pakistani sheriff’s deputy in Harris County, said he was there in part to “build bridges between law enforcement and communities” and in part because the sheriff had asked him to attend. Another man, Hasnain Shahid, circulated two petitions asking that schools be made “100% gun free.”
“I didn’t know them,” Uzma Iqbal, a physician who lives in Houston, said of the victims. “But I’m the mother of two children.” She was here with her two sons, Cyrus and Salman, because they “wanted to show support,” Iqbal said.
“When you cry, you cry the same tears,” Iqbal added. “Each and every one of us is an ambassador to the world.”
As the rain picked up outside, Muslims knelt down on the concrete and dirt to pray. The voice of Tauqeer Shah, one of the imams, could be heard faintly from an intercom. He read the names of the 10 people killed at Sante Fe High School.
“Remember Shana Fisher,” he said. “Remember Kimberly Vaughan.”
Inside were several officials and dignitaries, including Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and Rep. Al Green, and Aisha Farooqui, the Houston consul general for Pakistan.
“We are here in the House of God,” Farooqui said. Her message, she said, was “very clear: We need to take care our children.”
In nearby Texas City, the Cogburns run a popular fish market where Sheikh worked. The distinct smell of Gulf Coast seafood permeated remembrances of Sheikh on Saturday.
“When I found out, I cried my eyes out,” said Ashley Yelverton, who was working the cash register. “She meant everything to me. She was like my cousin.”
Yelverton described Sheikh “full of laughter” and “so happy.” Co-worker Mynon Parnell added some adjectives of her own: creative, sweet, giggly.
“She was here one day and not the next,” Parnell said, looking dejected. “We loved her here.”
Sheikh was part of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program, set up in 2002 to provide scholarships to children from countries with large Muslim populations. The goal is for students to “learn about American society and values,” according to the YES website.
In Pakistan, Sheikh’s father described her as “extraordinary” and “talented,” Al-Jazeera reported.
“Even now I cannot believe that my daughter is gone,” Abdul Aziz said.

PM visits family of Texas shooting victim Sabika Sheikh

Sabika’s funeral held in Houston, body to reach Pakistan on Monday
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday visited the family of Sabika Sheikh, a school student from Karachi who was killed in a shooting incident at a school in Texas, United States (US) on Friday, to condole with the grieved family.
Expressing deep grief and sympathies with the family, the prime minister said late Sabika was a talented Pakistani student and the whole nation was mourning over her death.
He also prayed to Allah Almighty to grant courage to late Sabika’s family to bear the loss with fortitude.
The prime minister viewed that extremist tendencies were not a problem of mere one country or a region, but it was an international issue. He was accompanied by Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair.
He said in order to cope with such attitudes, it was not only necessary to eliminate their root causes but also benefit from one other’s expertise at international level.
FUNERAL FOR SABIKA SHEIKH IN HOUSTON:
The funeral prayers for Sabika Sheikh was scheduled to be held on Sunday after Namaz-e-Zuhr in a local mosque of Houston.
Scheduled by the Pakistani Consulate in Houston at Sugar Land’s Masjid Sabireen, the funeral was separated from the one to be held in the teen’s hometown of Karachi, which her family, friends, and relatives will attend.
Pakistani Consulate officials, local members of the United States Congress, as well as other US officials were expected to attend the funeral.
Hundreds of people are expected to attend the funeral Sunday in Texas of Sabika Sheikh, organisers said.
The somber ceremony is to take place at an Islamic center in the Texas town of Stafford, not far from Santa Fe High School, where the shooting took place, the Islamic Society of Greater Houston said in a statement.
The funeral is scheduled for 2 pm (1900 GMT).
SABIKA’S BODY TO REACH PAKISTAN ON MONDAY:
The dead body of Pakistani student Sabika Sheikh is expected to reach Pakistan on Monday.
Sabika Sheikh, who was completing her education in the United States, was one of the 10 students killed in the Santa Fe High School shooting.
Pakistan’s Consul General in Houston Aisha Farooqui collected the body.
In Pakistan, the Santa Fe shooting has unleashed an outpouring of sympathy and horror over the tragic murder of Sheikh, who had been in the US for 10 months and was just weeks away from coming home.
People from all walks of life expressed sadness and grief over the incident.
Sabika, whose father said she had always excelled in school, had nurtured dreams of serving in Pakistan’s foreign office.
She had been due to return to Karachi in time for Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, in which families come together and celebrate with days of feasting.
Sabika Sheikh was among the victims of Friday’s mass shooting at a Texas high school.
Seventeen-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis was being held on a capital murder charge after authorities said he fatally shot 10 people and wounded at least 10 others at his high school in Santa Fe, about 30 miles (50 kilometres) southeast of Houston.
Sabika Sheikh succumbed to her wounds, according to a leader at a program for foreign exchange students and the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, D.C. Megan Lysaght, manager of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study Abroad program (YES), sent a letter to students in the program confirming that Sabika was killed in the shooting.
“Please know that the YES program is devastated by this loss and we will remember Sabika and her families in our thoughts and prayers,” Lysaght wrote.
She said the program would be holding a moment of silence for the girl, who is pictured beaming in a shirt that says “Texas” in a photo being shared on social media.
The Pakistan Embassy in Washington, D.C., identified Sabika as a victim of the shooting on Twitter and wrote that “our thoughts and prayers are with Sabika’s family and friends.”
Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry has expressed heartfelt condolences for the victims of the tragic incident at the Santa Fe High School in Texas this morning. Among the victims was Sabika Sheikh, a Pakistani exchange student. Our Consul General in Houston is in touch with the authorities concerned to ascertain facts.”

Indian major general talked about Kargil war.
I think that most people on the planet find this situation totally disgusting. Here we have some of the planets most naturally gifted mathematicians and physicists killing each other over what? Religious differences? How pathetic. Put all of you in the same area, remove the turbans, shave the beards, etc., no one from outside the area could tell you apart. You have the same DNA. You have the same history. You spent all that time fighting the British Empire for your independence to end up like this? India and Pakistan are some of the very few countries to develop their own nuclear programs (without stealing it from the Americans). All that money for weapons of mass destruction while your women get raped going outside to defecate due to the lack of indoor plumbing. Talk of putting a man on the moon (something that was done almost 49 years ago) while both of your countries are extremely poor. Killing each other over a piece of land where you almost need an oxygen tank to breath. You people need to get over this bullshit. Both of you have more than enough nukes to take each other out numerous times. Both of you need to start bringing your standards of living up to where it should be for people of your intelligence.
Mother who tricked her 17-year-old daughter into going to Pakistan and forced her to marry a male relative 16 years older than her is found guilty in UK legal first
$1:
A mother has been convicted of duping her teenage daughter to go to Pakistan and forcing her to marry, in the first successful prosecution of its type.
The woman was found guilty following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court, where a jury heard how the victim had sobbed as she was married to a male relative 16 years her senior.
Years earlier, the man had taken the girl's virginity after a marriage contract was entered into against the girl's will.
The then 13-year-old had to undergo an abortion on returning to the UK, with her GP reporting his concerns to social services.
It is the first time a forced marriage case of this kind has been successfully prosecuted in a criminal court in England, with the mother convicted of actively deceiving the girl in order to convince her to travel.
Jurors heard how as the girl had approached her 18th birthday, she was tricked by her mother into going to Pakistan on what she believed was a family holiday.
The mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons to protect the identity of the victim, was convicted of deceiving the victim to go to Pakistan, in order to enter into a false marriage, forced marriage and perjury, after she later lied about the incident in the High Court.
Giving evidence during the trial, the girl told how wedding preparations went ahead despite her objections.
The couple were then married in September 2016, after she had celebrated her 18th birthday.
The teenager had described how she was taken to get ready for the ceremony, and there an imam gave her papers to sign and asked if she wanted to get married.
The victim - under pressure from her mother - had to say 'I do' or 'I accept' three times, before signing.
Jurors heard the complainant recall how she cried to her mother, who continued leading her by the arm to meet her husband-to-be, and then put on her ring.
She said: 'I didn't want to get married to him.'
Back in the UK, after concerns were raised by the authorities, the girl's mother was summonsed to the High Court, and there lied on oath, stating that her daughter had not been married.
Jurors also heard how years earlier, following her abortion, the teenager had turned to drink and drugs.
After a referral to children's services about the pregnancy, her mother 'made all the right noises' according to prosecutors, claiming her daughter and the man were just 'two teenagers who had sneakily had sex'.
Opening the case, prosecutor Deborah Gould said the victim was 'a young girl who has been let down badly by her mother, whose love and attention she craves'.
As the verdicts were read, the defendant appeared shocked and was remanded in custody for sentencing on Wednesday, as her daughter watched from the public gallery.
Judge Patrick Thomas QC told the jury the adjournment was appropriate as the case was 'entirely novel', with no other relevant case law to rely upon.
The girl was returned to the UK with the assistance of the Home Office, with police and social workers informed what had happened, leading to her mother's arrest in January last year.
Following conviction, Elaine Radway, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: 'Forcing someone into marriage against their wishes is a criminal offence, and a breach of their human rights.
'As this prosecution demonstrates, the CPS will work with partner agencies to identify and prosecute those who coerce, control, dominate or exploit a victim to force them into marriage.
'It is thanks to the brave testimony of the victim that this serious offending was uncovered and that there was sufficient evidence to secure the conviction today.'
Superintendent Sally Holmes, from West Midlands Police's public protection unit, said it had been a complex investigation, with officers travelling to Pakistan to gather evidence.
She said: 'Where the difficulty has been greatest is obviously for the victim.
'She's been incredibly brave coming forward, and reporting this to us and I think her bravery has absolutely to be acknowledged.'
She added: 'One of the difficulties with these cases, is that ultimately, children love their parents and the last thing they often want to do is criminalise them.
'In coming forward, that is ultimately what they may find themselves doing.
'The reason why they have to make that difficult decision and come forward, is often to protect themselves and siblings, and obviously to do the right thing and to protect other members of the community.
'The ambition is always to prevent the crime, rather than react afterwards.'

Mother who tricked her 17-year-old daughter into going to Pakistan and forced her to marry a male relative 16 years older than her is found guilty in UK legal first$1:

100% agreed, sir.
Sane Pakistanis and Indians will agree with you....It's just we in our respective countries hate each other to the core while in west and other places we get along with each other quite well...No such hatred displayed outside their respective countries.
Despite hatred, we still respect each other. We appreciate Indian film industry. They appreciate our dramas.
Indians are huge fans of Pakistani Coke Studio...
Check comments in comment section by opening this video on YouTube. How Pakistani songs/singers are appreciated by Indians over here is amazing and we Pakistanis are thankful to Indians for that
