...one on my problems with this whole war on terror is this dividing everything into "good" versus "evil".

Thats the problem with this whole situation good and evil are straight black and white terms. This whole situation is more complicated that just good and evil. The Bush foregin policy needs a complete overhaul.

Sometimes you guys crack me up! Sometimes ya kinda piss me off!

Do not put words in my mouth but rather look at what I say before you open your mouth.

What I said was clear and concise and if some beatnik wants to equate that to Mao Zedong's famous quote about revolution

"A revolution is commonly understood to be an event which seeks to overthrow one political order in society and replace it with another."

While Mao argued that political power cannot be achieved without resorting to the use of force, ("Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun"-- the gun being a metaphor for the military), Mao also believed that the party must always remain in ultimate political control of the nation in order for peace and prosperity to be achieved ("...the gun must never be allowed to command the Party").

Apparently you have mistaken a topic of war and terrorism to be a revolution.

My comment for you less informed was actually from Athens Tenn.

On the night of August 1-2, 1946, some American ex-GIs used armed force as a last resort to overthrow their corrupt county tyrants. These ordinary Americans simply wanted honest government. They had tried the ballot box, but the elections were rigged. They had pleaded for honest leadership from the soap box. They had begged state and federal officials to come to their aid with the jury box, but their pleas were ignored. When every one of those famous "boxes of freedom" failed them, they turned to the last box available—the cartridge box.

Out dated my ass look past the rose coloured glasses and the pretty bong into the real world.

One example from 59 years ago, Richard. How many times has military force been used to overthrow a democratically elected government? Never mind that. Since you used an American example...How many times has US or US-backed military force been used to overthrow a democratically elected government?

What part of this statement does not fit with the topic here..Iraq, Afganistan the only thing that is remotely different is the order.

Obviously not 59 years ago is it...and were did you get the American deal from Rev Godz from a different post?

No, it's obviously not 59 years ago. If you mean the American deal about them overthrowing democratically elected governments, I got it from the history books. If you mean the 59 years ago part, I got it from your example of Athens, TN.

Afghanistan has a leader that was hand-picked by the US. They controlled the elections there. If you can;t run for office, you aren't likely to win. The big question in Iraq right now is what Bush will do if Allawi doesn't win. Having an election where people are afraid to vote is pretty questionable as a democracy as well.

You cannot force democracy from without, and you cannot bring peace by being the aggressor in a war. Those ideas are outdated and have been for half a century.
