We do not have an official language in the USA. So you can speak anything you want. Where as in Canada your goverment forces you to put french on everything.

True. No official languange. But in some states, you see more spanish than english. Even on food products, etc. In some areas, english is the second languange.

Thats the way Canada should be ^^^^^^^^^^

We would save a boat load of money, how many forms in the Gov't offices in Lethbridge need to be in french ?

To my knowledge, the War of 1812 was against the Brits, not Canada. Apparently, they couldn't distinguish between American and Brit sailors, so they forcibly borrowed some of ours. Also, Britain couldn't quite reconcile themselves to the loss in the War of 1812 and it was not at all clear that they would not block westward expansion..

Um..wow. You really, really need to brush up on your history. I have know idea what you are refeering to by the "couldn't distinguish b/t sailors" part. An the United States did not win the war of 1812, the Brits did (at the farthest stretch of the mind, I suppose it could be called a draw). If the US won the war of 1812, Canada would be a part of the United States. In fact, if that stupid treaty wasn't signed at the end of it that returned all captured land, Michigan State would be a part of Canada.

Kal, I think he's referring to the Royal Navy boarding US ships and removing US citizens who had British accents and pressing them into RN service. It was a factor in the war of 1812 and it pissed off the yanks quite a lot. It stopped after the war.

Ah IC thank you for clarifying that.

*gets disoriented finding the War of 1812 everywhere*

Kal, the War of 1812 had two major goals, first to stop impressment by the British on American sailors, and second, to "liberate" Canada from British rule (i.e. expand the American goal of manifest destiny of course). But the primary goal was to dispel the British aggression on the high seas.

Would somebody please "liberate" Canada from this ad nauseam :!: :!: :!:
