I agree. Capital punishment should only be for extreme cases.

Frankly, I think that life in a 5X10 cell is far worse than a quick death from poison or electricity. The only problem is the potenntially overflowing prison system.

I am in favor of Capital Punishment IN THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS:

-Situations where a dangerous violent offender cannot be rehabilitated
-Dangerous violent offenders with an exceptional likelihood of reoffense
-Child molesters

Yes, definitely death to child molesters. Besides cold-blooded murder, there's no greater crime than destroying a childhood.

I just saw a video clip recently, can't remember where, but this convicted child molester was being taken through a building, escorted by cops, and the father of the child was waiting by a payphone. As soon as the pedophile walked by, the father turned around, pulled out a gun, and shot him straight through the head.

The father was never convicted. 8)

I'm against capital punishment. The liberal taxes punish my capital too much as it is.

Ted Bundy is estimated to have killed 200-300 women. He escaped from prison twice to kill women again each time. When the State of Florida finally fried him to a crisp the governor, Lawton Chiles (a liberal Democrat FYI) said, "Say what you will about capital punishment, Ted Bundy will never kill again."

Some people just need to be killed as letting them live is too dangerous.

Not so much for it:

moral reasons (I believe no human being has the right to take another human being's life),

legal reasons (America's justice system is severely flawed)

Also, for the wrongly convicted, ''When the state makes a mistake and the penalty is death, there is no way to make amends.''

As said, only in extreme cases. Otherwise i'm against it.

I do agree with these arguments. This is why I believe the standard of evidence for a death penalty conviction must include absolutely certain evidence. I would disallow confessions absent physical evidence and I would disallow convictions based on circumstantial evidence for death penalty convictions.

Scott Peterson is a good example of a circumstantial case where there has been proven prosecutorial misconduct and he was still sentenced to death despite the fact that all of the physical evidence was disallowed or conclusively explained and those explanations not disputed by the prosecution.

He was sentenced to death not on evidence of murder, but because he was a crappy husband. The case will surely be tossed on appeal in four or five years and I doubt he'll ever be executed, but stiil, there is that chance.

Ted Bundy, however, if left alive would have certainly been an ever present threat to women so long as he breathed. To leave a monster such as Bundy alive would inarguably mean sacrificing someone else.

Killing Ted Bundy means there are women alive today who would otherwise be dead.

I would not want to be the person who would be responsible for sparing him the death penalty and knowing his next victim(s) deaths were my responsibility.
