What are winters like in Canada, since Canada is closer to the North Pole than the US?

Blue_Nose @ Thu Jun 14, 2007 4:13 pm

Pretty much the same, except colder, since we're closer to the North Pole than the US.

and we live in igloos and drive dog sleds...it's dark 6 months out of the year........

Which bit of Canada? It gets colder than a witch's tit where I am, but Southern Ontario is pretty mild and BC stays embarrassingly warm.

With global warming things are getting much better, though. Wintertime moose trapping is nowhere near as arduous as it once was and I find I'm wearing my furs less and less with each passing year.

Good topic - I'll come back after supper: Blubber and pemmican pie. Mmmmm... [eat]

Blubber? Whale or seal...... ever since the damn europeans started bitching about the seal hunt, Iève had a bitch of a time getting good quality seal blubber.

Oh, I hear ya, Gerry. The key is to supply it for yourself. For me that's not too difficult: I own a moose ranch here on Baffin Island, so when I want some blubber I can take a short trip to the water and slaughter any number of blubber-bearing animals.

Hopefully, someday the Europeans will understand.

Can you make me a nice coat from what is left, Streaker?

Oh, and does moose lether make nice pants?

stratos @ Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:21 pm

Does Canada get Colder then Finland?

The Moose in Finland have their own army, or so I'm told. 8O

ShepherdsDog @ Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:24 pm

It depends on what's slipping into the leather pants that make them nice. The buggers here are wearing mits, parkas and touques as soon as the temperature drops below 20 C

Brenda @ Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:26 pm

Hmmm, that might be a problem then
