Never happen. The whole reason guys ride those hogs is to prove their masculinity with noise. How butch can you be going "whirrrrrr?"

Unsound @ Sun Mar 02, 2014 12:48 pm

Judgemental much?

I ride because it's fun, not to prove anything. And the noise is just cool. I like the sound of a motorcycle.

So would you ride an electric bike with similar performance as your current one, or is the noise an important factor for you?

Unsound @ Sun Mar 02, 2014 12:55 pm

I'd give it a try for the novelty of it, and if I was still into sport bikes I might even consider owning something like that, but I ride a cruiser now and the sound is a big part of the cruising experience. I'm not actually a big fan of the obnoxiously loud straight-piped "look at me" type of bike, but nice low rumble is very pleasing to my ear.

We could put a thingy on it that goes vroom vroom, how about that?

I'm just having you on. But you may like the sound, people that live in the neighborhood in the middle of the night, not so much.

Unsound @ Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:02 pm

The RPMs and consequently the noise from my bike stay low until I'm out of the residential areas if I'm out when people are sleeping.

If only they were all like you. But you probably hear that all time.

Me, I like quiet. I get upset when my bicycle drivetrain makes too much noise. OTOH, the huffing and puffing emanating from me might offend some people. Specially if it's not coming from my mouth and we're riding in a paceline.

Unsound @ Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:43 pm

A lot are like me, you just don't notice because, well, that's the point, right?

Not going to go for much of a ride at 200k/charge.
My bike is pretty quiet. I had/have the option of louder pipes but like Unsound, I'm not the "HEY, Look at me" type of rider.

Depending how long it takes to recharge 200km isn't bad. I can't go any further than that without fueling up. And as a general rule i don't go for very long rides most of the time anyways. It takes at most half an hour for my hands to get numb and painfull. Not quit sure how I can get both sensations at once, but that's how it is.

As much as this South Park episode is hilarious, you do realize most motorcycle riders aren't doing it because they want attention and be a disturbance.

I get about 200 km as well, but then it only takes 2 mins to fuel up and I'm on my way again.

Don't know how much of an 'Easy Rider' I'll be with my latest aquisition. 2009 Harley XLSportster 1200L. Picked it up this morning. Got some dry pavement here so even got a chance to put it thru the gears. I'm thinkin a fella could go from '0 to dead' in about 1/2 second! It's in the garage now and that's where it's staying till the roads are free of ice and get cleaned.
