watched the video , agree facebook has some privacy issues and there is some questions about why they started the site in the first place and what its long term purpose is .
and i guess i question facebook figures its ok to display all this private info when other sites wouldn't EVER consider display stuff like current address or work info .
plenty of fish , lavalife , being examples .
I love facebook. Since I've joined, I've connected with long lost friends and family members! I'm totally addicted to it. And yesterday I joined the CKA on facebook and it led me to this wonderful group
Thanks!
I joined the facebook group, i'm the one with a dog as my picture ^^
I got Face book naos too....dont know if I want any of you on it though!
we ahve a CKA facebook group? Where? Can someone send me a link?
I reluctantly got facebook... *sigh*
I know some people on facebook. I tried to create an account, but it won't let me. I keep getting the message "Sorry, we're not cool enough to support your browser. Please keep it real with one of the following browsers: Firefox, Opera." I use IE 6.0 with all the updates, but I downloaded Firefox and applied all the updates just for facebook; it still says the same thing. I created on account from a friend's computer, but it now demands my email password. Not my facebook password, but the password for my home email account. I tried a little experiment, I turned off my privacy blocker at home for just one page load. It worked; it took me to the sign-in page. When I tried to sign in with the privacy blocker back on it again said " Sorry, we're not cool enough...". So this means it is scraping information from your computer without your knowledge or consent. Facebook is a major privacy risk. I will not use it.
Sites 'scraping' browser specs is fairly common, I think - Canadaka has posted stats regarding visitor browser usage before, so I doubt it's a huge issue.
every site tracks users browser, OS, ip, screen resolution, colours, and many more things. This is stuff the webserver wether IIS or Apache gathers.
You people are funny with all the facebook hates.
I think its rad and enjoy it. Over 200 people in the CKA group and over 1,300 people added the CKA facebook app to their profiles. So i'm sure some of that has resulted in new forum members.
