I breast feed my second son. I did it cause I have a lot of allergies and they say that breastfeeding will help against the allergies. I figured it was worth a shot to try and prevent him from going through the same hell that I go through each year.
I had mixed feelings about doing it. I was really concerned that it might feel good, face it, when a man does it, it feels good. But holy crap was I wrong. It hurt like a bitch. No matter what I did it hurt. I cried when I knew he needed to be fed.
But the one thing I dont get is why people do this in public????????
They say it is a great bonding time between mom and baby. Well should that bonding time not be privet? Lets face it, breast feeding makes a lot of people feel uncomfortable.
And quit frankly I dont think other peoples young kids need to see your tits in public.

Just my thoughts!

yeah they don't need it anymore . She is right about kids naturally slowing down as they get older , age 4 or 5 is fine and they do break away from it , but 7 or 8 I just can't imagine . Its not a bad thing its just a little excessive ...errr maybe alot excessive . I think its sad though that some can't and others don't or won't do that for the baby right from birth ...that might even be worse considering how unpopular it has become . There are alot of benefits to it both health wise and comfort . Girls usually stop before boys so that would be the most unusual family situation I've ever come across . OK , I'll shaaaddap now

I think there should be an age limit on it. At some point I really think that it crosses a line.

I have a 7 and 9 year old... I cannot think of them hanging on my tit everyday... eeewwww!

I breastfed only my second. My first was bottle fed because of infection in my breasts. Man, did that hurt! They were 3 times as big as normal! ouch... My second was breastfed for 3 months. After 3 months I got the flu, and it was hard enough coping with myself... So she got bottlefed then too.

I wouldn't call it comfortable though, Banff!

yeah I know and understand . My wife had a punch out session almost daily with the first one until he finally stopped biting (rash/bleeding) . She became a pro quickly and now knows how to prevent them from dominating . First one stopped at age 5 second age 4 and this last one is just over one , soooo she laughed when she said that by the time she finishes with this last one , it could be 1 decade of her life .

The boys slowed down as they got older , just like the woman on the video said . I think what she did for the boys was good and the health benefits are enormous but we did our part to ween them off too . That mom has to realize her girls are just a tad too old .

After knowing what my boys got from it , just looking at the pic with the newborn in specific , I just can't imagine such a small human being going without it . I could be wrong but I think most moms may understand what I'm saying regarding the newborn .

Sorry Banff I cant imagin having a 5 or a 4 year old breastfeeding. I think that 1 or 2 is a good cut off age. It is the first few weeks that give the best stuff anyhow.

no argument from me age 1 or 2 is awesome , its the ones that don't at all that concern me (provided they can) Btw the newborn I meant is the woman with the watch and heart necklace . Just looking at that one makes me wonder how some women just won't .

I think my mother booted all 6 of us off before age 2 . I thought my wife would only go till age 2 with the first one ( I think thats plenty enough but I was surprised she continued ) She wasn't comfortable about it after age 4 but she was kind enough to go till age 5 . From age 3 it was once in the morning and then at bedtime at 4 it was just once a day with missed days and 5 it was just the odd time or few times per week . I didn't care , it created a good bond .

If I'm not mistaken I believe the world average for breast feeding is age 4 ...you wouldn't know it in north america . You are right about the first few weeks , that colostrum is amazingly important for newborns .

I don't bash women for not breastfeeding because I've met an equal number who were stressed out about not being able to as those who just won't . Whether you pump and freeze it or just breast feed yeah I suppose those first few weeks are most important .

Breast feeding in public ...hmmmm? I dunno I guess I'm the wrong person to make such a big deal out of it after these many years . Breast feeding moms shouldn't give a damn what people think ...its not like their rude about it ...maybe I'm just desensitized .

I like boobs like any guy does but geez their all so lame compared to Mrs. Banffs . :D :P

Any idea why?

I hate to make the comparison ( ) but that sounds like mastitis... cows get it when they aren't milked regularly, and I guess it's just as common in lactating women (from what I just read). The page I read also said it can be accompanied by flu-like symptoms.

Anyway, it's interesting to think that it might have been prevented if you'd have breastfed.

Once babies learn to bite that would be the end of it for me!
Unfortunately I was never able to breast-feed tried all 3 times!
The public health nurse kept telling me that it was not right to bottle feed. (Made me feel guilty) Breast is best she kept saying!
It is if you produce milk!! I started bottle feeding my son when I realized he was dehydrated so bad his lips dried out and his soft spot sank in. The second day after coming home from the hospital
As for breastfeeding in public, if your child is hungry you feed them!
:D

They were infected before she was born... Sometimes it is not as easy as it looks...

They were infected before she was born... Sometimes it is not as simple as it looks... I would have breastfed her if it was possible... But delivering a baby with some kind of infection in your body is hard enough... It wasn't easy too, because it is a normal thing to do, and most women do it here. Even your boss has to make a little private space for you, so you can get your milk, and then freeze it, if you want to...
