So Im pretty pumped now,they want me flying out of Winnipeg on the 26th so I got a week to get my gear together and find a small portable satellite radio so I have tunes.
Not sure if they sell them yet but I'll take a big one if I have to.
Cant forget the fishing rod this time either. Probably only be a dozen of us in camp for the first few months,we should have sat. internet so I'll post some good pics.
I also need to get some steel claws for my boots,my doc told me of some but they were via catalouge and I dont have that much time.Maybe I'll hit a hikeing store in Calgary if anyone knows of one that might sell something like that.

Instead of bug spray this time I'll need suntan lotion.

My duties will be to clean off the lakes so the supply planes(herc's) can land with fuel and machinery for camp,build a 20 klik ice road to the new exploration and camp site,build another 60 kliks of ice road to Baker lake,drag Newfie drillers to their sites,and the odd 140 klik round trip to town for whatever I can skid back over the ice with the cat.
This is going to be a blast.

I really do need some kind of a traction thing for my boots though,dont want to break my ankle again and the cast wont come off till the last moment,right before I leave for the Calgary Airport.
Any ideas anyone? I will have an active ankle brace so I just want to cover the traction part now.
I'm walking with the cane for 2 days now so think the crutch's are history.
Hope I get to see a polar bear this time.

Especially toothpaste.They send out the tweety bird bubble gum flavoured all the time. Cant say the Inuuit dont have a sense of humour.

Kind of hard to run a cat with a bad ankle, isnt it?
Maybe a grader would be better, and if its your right ankle you can use the hand throtle

Not really,my right foot only has to put a wee bit of pressure on the decel pedal and I can allways use the hand throttle.Plus they dont have a grader up there yet. Thats why I had to finish the runway with a d7 cat,and cut .07 1/4 inch pea gravel off the fuel tank pad we were also building.

I didnt think it could be done but I had no choice for tools,tried the 307 hoe,the bobcat and the loader and finally went back to the 7.

I was there yesterday afternoon........it's a white universe they're lving in.......way whiter that mine is.

   

Nunavuts dry. Camps dry too but I wont say some didnt have a toddy or two before bed.What are they going to do???? Send you home? lol!
Never saw a drunk though in 7 weeks in camp.

You can get stuff when the chopper go's into town but smokes are cheaper to take with you for sure.
Especially when your out,I remember coming into camp looking for my "package" from the world which was sitting in Bake laker for a week. My smokes and a birthday gift. Every day I would look for it and nothing for a week. I was ready to start rolling butts at that time.
