what are your thoughts on PETA
Check out this site. Read the news and stuff in the middle of the page.
I've never seen such a bunch of sensationalistic misinformation before in my life as their campaigns. They beat Amnesty International and The Sierra Club in this, and that's something. I figure if I ever get one of them in my sights I'll do the world a favour.
Puppies don't even want people to drink milk for chrissakes.
sorry, here is the site

These people are whackos. We should make no apologies for our position at the top of the food chain.....we worked hard to get here.
Animals should have no rights.....but......I am in favour of extending the right to vote to dogs "who think they're people"!
i wanted to just put the url, but the whole freaking site is on their and i can't delete it. oh well. a guy in new york city was either put in jail or fined for beating a rat with a baseball bat. there are hundreds, maybe thousands of rats for every person in new york city. guess who put these charges against him. PETA
I kind of liked the naked supermodel ad campaign, but that had nothing to do with furs...it had to do with liking naked supermodels.
The biggest problem with PETA is that they go too far and take the focus off some very real problems. Cruelty to animals is a problem. Factory farms are a problem. Unnecessary testing on animals is a problem.
Try talking about the real problems and a whole bunch of people decide you are talking about PETA and quit listening.
I'm a member of PETA, the WSPA and my local SPCA.
I'm a vegetarian and will not use animal products of any kind - including wearing leather. I will not use products that have been tested on animals. This is my choice - I will not force my beliefs on any others, however I take exception to people thinking the abuse of other living things is funny.
I guess it shows the maturity of some of the people here.
where do you get your protein from? what do you actually eat. i hate peta, but i am against animal cruelty. i believe there are different ranks of animals. first there are domestic pets like dogs and cats. i think that the owner is REQUIRED to treat the pet with respect and provide medical attention and to take care of it. next is domesticated animals like cows and pigs. they are bred for a purpose. pigs are bred for their meat, cows for milk and meat, ect. i believe they need to be treated with respect, and killed in a humane way. i know that sounds like an oxymoron, but bear with me. next is wild animals, whether in zoos or in the wild, need to be allowed to live the way nature intended them to. hunting is a must with deer population. because the wolf population was devestated, the deer has no natural predator to maintain the population. if hunting is stopped and the deer population explodes, the natural balance in the ecosystem will be chaos. that will do more damage than hunting.
Maritime, I'm with you on this one
It is my believe and opinion that peta does go to extemes (with any organization you have the over zealous) however, you remember them. You think about them and what they stand for. People for the ethical treatment of animals.
I volunteer at a local non profit no kill shelter. I've seen and heard the horrible stories of abuse, neglect and cruelty. It's a sad statement against society that we even need these societies and organizations. That in today's enlightened society we need to remind people to be kind. To think of others. To be responsible. To remind people that animals are not an accessorie but a living, feeling creature. Makes me more misanthropic everyday to see what "human" are capable of.
Animals kick ass!
My pooch, a.k.a Chopper, came from a rescue in Ohio. They were going to put him to sleep because nobody wanted him. I live in Windsor and there are some weird rules about bringing animals cross border so I had to tell the border coppers that I had brought him across and nobody said anything on the way over. Oddly enough they believed me and now this little guy (boxer) is the king of the neighborhood and has since renounced his U.S. Citizenship. He also has a feline friend here named kitty (creative name I thought) that also came from a shelter. I think its the best way and is both beneficial to the animal and to society to get animals from shelters.
I get my protein from nuts and soy. Boca products actually have more protein than meat. Some people will try to tell me I'm not healthy, but I just had bloodwork done and everything is in perfect order. I will eat eggs, as long as they are from free run hens, and I will eat some cheese, preferably organic, because a lot of cheese manufacturers use rennet (the lining from a calf's stomach) to aid in the process. As long as the animal is not killed or hurt in the process I have no problem with them being used for the products they can give us.
To me there is no difference between a dog, a cow, a deer, a person or a fish - I won't eat anything that has eyes - except a potato........
GET RID OF THE FREAKIN' POP_UPS.
Right - on - fig!
I'm not coming back to this thread again - the number of pop-ups are ridiculous!
And if it happens in other threads, I'll pack it in altogether.
This is absolute bullshit...
No pop-ups on my computer. You guys should become much more paranoid and collect every bit of anti-everything software you can find. Then you should switch to a browser like Mozilla.
