I miss Chicken Tikka nans from Abduls in Rusholme, Manchester. Just a bit of yoghurt, loads of hot sauce, salad and well juicy tikka chunks on a nan fresh from the tandoori oven.

Oh yea!

Unfortunately, the Curry powder I use isn't Hot. I need to find an Indian shop one day and load up on the good stuff. That said, I have this Persian Curry powder that isn't Hot, but it's damn tasty. My Curried Beef is Hot though, as I use a Hot Salsa in place of using canned tomatoes.

Only when I get lazy do I buy curries... and cooking just for myself is a hassle.

I do make a mean baigan bhartha, keema kofta (one of my favorites) and rajmah. [drool]

Pataks sand. It's very good and easy. They even have cook-in sauces which are ok but the pastes and chutneys are great.

I was wondering what you were talking about, but I've bought these before.
They are pretty good.

They are. The chutneys are really good with cheese or just as an added bit of flavour on a curry as you serve it. Lime pickle is a favourite of mine. Good on a chicken vindaloo with papads.

I'm going to have to talk to the folks at Costco and see if they will think about bringing some in as curry is popular...unfortunately they might only bring in the vindaloo. just made a pineapple and mango lassi.

EyeBrock @ Sat May 07, 2011 8:08 am

The vindaloo is pretty good. Not overly hot.

Not a fan of food that hot. Milds and mediums, and besides the old lady's palate is more roast beef and yorkshire pudding....can't even get her to try haggis.

I have used Pataks before. They are good, but I prefer doing it from scratch.

My ex-boss was Indian. I talked to his wife at a party and the conversation turned to cooking. The next week at work, she gave me an Indian cookbook. :D

I know that for the koftas, there's a whole process for the prepartion of the meat in India. Me, I just buy it already ground up.
