I made the mistake of checking my work email just now (we have "webmail" which we can access outside of work.

I am so pissed off.

We have rotations on all the desks in the office. Generally every 6 months we move desks. Management do this to keep things interesting I guess, for the employees, and to encourage development and training on all aspects of Court work. Ok that's fair enough.

These moves are taking place on the 15th October.

I am moving from my current desk of Crime Disposals to Court Support/Adoptions.

What pisses me off is that my office manager has put in the email that I am starting maternity leave in January 2008. I have yet to discuss maternity leave with any of my management. I am extremely pissed off that they took it upon themselves to assume that I'll be working as far as I can and have gone ahead and talked about these moves without discussing my maternity leave with me first.

As it turns out, I received my maternity certificate from the midwife on Tuesday past, and was going to go back to work on Monday and say that I wanted to finish up in DECEMBER.

The other thing that pisses me off is the Court Support desk is extremely high stress. I'll be clerking a civil court every day and responsible for typing up my own interlocutors (court orders, whatever you want to call them). This is nigh on impossible to do when you're in court all the time!! My colleague that is on the desk just now has been having to stay late til 6 or even 7pm at night just to keep on top of everything.

I don't care if I'm only going to be on that desk from Oct to "January"...I'm pissed off that they didn't discuss it with me first.

The other problem is that I'm going to need time off in October to write this test for my visa and further time off in November to get my application sorted. To be fair, they don't know this yet because I only found out myself last week, but...Fuck, Monday is going to be stressful already.

I'm more pissed about the maternity leave thing than anything else.

My grandmother told me never to trust a Campbell.

Well, and that's true Regina, Campbells were traitors way back when. One only needs to think of Glencoe!

YUP!! Apparently when you invite them over for supper they had a tendency to kill you. I’m a direct descendent of Flora Mac Donald and I think them and the Campbell’s were not on good terms.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it's the former home of Flora MacDonald, and has been turned into a country hotel by her relatives.

She's buried not too far away.

Regina @ Sat Oct 13, 2007 7:53 am

BTW…..congratulations!! Looks like everything has gone well so far and I hope that continues right up until his wife starts looking after him.

I wanted to but only got as far north as Oban on that trip. Two and a half weeks isn't long enough to see everything you want. :(
