Lets talk about Canada annexing the Turks and Caicos, I'm all for it, I think it would give Canadians incredible opportunity, not only for vacations but also for new cultural experiences, rather then going to Florida, we could spend our winters in a Canadian territory without all the problems with length of time out of country and the currency problems, (providing the islands convert the Loonie. :D

I like the idea on the face of it but I can't help but think the people living there now will eventually get bought and priced out of their home. Our wealthy have plenty of resort option already as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe we can swing a trade. Turks and Caicos for Manitoulin Island? Think they'd go for that??

It would be nice to be able to go somewhere in the winter, without the possibility of being photographed and finger-printed....

So does the Turks an Caicos issue come up every twenty years, or did I a cycle? I'm all for it if they are...a warm place to drink beer for a couple of weeks in January, then back up here for the Festival du Voyager in February.

Could someone please explain the situation with this topic? I'm not firmiliar with it...

For background information see --> http://www.cbc.ca/news/indepth/backgrou ... aicos.html

I wish it would happen. We would have a Canadian place to vacation and keep Canadian money in Canada, as well I am sure there would be some military, intelligence benefits in there somewhere..

The current citizens would enjoy benefits of being Canadian (health care, respect, etc)..

I'm all for it, I just it would actually happen then just be discussed every few years.

Hmmmm.... Now that I have been notified of what the hell is going on, I'd like to say, GO FOR IT!!.. In my opinion, I think that we should have majority of support from both the citizens, and the government for this to happen... And not majority 50% majority like 75%... Oh well... It would be nice...

Maybe if I moved there my relatives would come visit me? The Trans Canada goes both ways, but I'm supposed to spend my vacation visiting them while they spend theirs in Cuba because "flying is easy."

mike2277 @ Sun Jan 25, 2004 7:45 am

Heck Rev, if you move there we'll ALL come visit you! :D

Rev_Blair @ Sun Jan 25, 2004 8:14 am

Cool...company is always good.

Evan @ Sun Jan 25, 2004 8:33 am

I like it. But you know how it is. Some bastard who can afford to goto florida wont give a shit. I for one would love to retire in a warm place that is Canadian. If they wont do it then we should threaten to revolt!!! We are sick of the cold that will be our slogan!!! I dont see the problem. They want we want it. DO IT!!!

Laconfir @ Sun Jan 25, 2004 12:21 pm

That isn't very Canadian if you ask me... I mean, one part of our reputation is that we can stand the cold (Even though foreigners make it sound worse then it really is) If you ask me, they're all a bunch of pussies... Honestly though! A little bit of cold never hurt anybody! Well, anyone thats smart enough to prepare for it... Oh well.. A warm Canadian place would be nice... But, I think cold is a Canadian word ;)

Evan @ Sun Jan 25, 2004 12:28 pm

Well I didnt say that I couldnt stand it. I can. I just dont like it. Year after year it gets too damn cold. Just once I would like to say "oh oh its cold again. Heading to the tropics!!!" Right on!!!
